Cheap Samsung fix (Stove Top On) Light Fix

In this video I will go thru and show you how i trouble shoot the stove very easy and simple way 1x wire with alligator clips on both ends, What part i need to replace, and then installing the new part to prove the stove works and my trouble shooting was correct.

Thank you for this! Turns out I had the same issue, and with the same burner control. 1) I believe my switch got damaged because of a loose main AC power block terminal screw: When turning the left front burner on, a flash and pop came from the back and the display went dead (because it also tripped the breaker). Turns out that where the main red wire from the 250VAC power cord somehow came loose. As the burner switch is turned ON, my theory is that the loose connection caused an intermittent interruption in the current flow (at the power connection) resulting in a high voltage spike due to the inductance in the wiring, thereby "welding" the indicator switch contacts closed or "shorted". 2) After tightening the power cord screw... To determine which burner control was causing the Cooktop ON to remain lit, I found that unplugging one blue wire at a time was for me was another simple way to troubleshoot. MAKE SURE you disconnect the power before touching any wires to avoid getting shocked as the blue wires are HOT with AC voltage. 1st unplug the power cord, then unplug one of the blue wires that TDL DIY indicated. Plug the AC cord back in and see if the Cooktop On light is OFF. If still on, unplug the power cord again and try the blue wire from another control. 3) In my case it was the far left control as suspected, since that was the one being turned when the circuit breaker popped. I've decided to ditch this stove because it also needs a new Control Board (the "5" and Kitchen Timer buttons don't work, some LED segments are dim and almost all of the black numbers/indicators have rubbed off of the front panel). We've had bad luck with ALL of our Samsung appliances and am switching to another brand as repairs become non cost-effective. 😞

When you pull off those spade connects you have to pinch down by the wire area to release the metal tab in order to have it come off if you use needle nose pliers it's a little easier unless you have some strong nails

We’ve had the hot surface light on constantly for months. It’s a common problem and there’s plenty of comments online about it. However our oven burst into flames tonight after we’d just finished cooking dinner. The flames appeared from behind the control panel but I guess they could have originated lower down. I’m not going to mess with it until we decide who to call.

Wow, I 100% dont blame you for calling someone after it brusting into flames. Depends on how much damage it might be worth looking at a new stove. I hope everyone is ok!

@@TDLDIY Yeah all safe thanks. The flames appeared appeared from behind the control panel at the top. Once we had isolated the appliance and puled it from the wall to unplug it there was no visible damage. So i'm thinking some scolding and melted wires inside because my wife heard a "pop" just before the flames. But as soon as I take the panel off any technician may say that it's user error and the appliance has been messed with.

@@canukdcv905 in this situation i agree i would leave it. wait for someone to look at it. I am guessing resistance increased in a wire, switch or board. cause the fire and probably why your wife heard a pop. I will be curious to heard the result of what the technician finds.

Beware of Samsung stoves this is a very common issue with their stoves mine would just turn on in the middle of the night , their switch components are plastic and easily wear out if you are using the same switch often , good video though👍

The switches have 8 wires and makes more complex than older basic electric ranges using coil elements. and switches for the coil heat elements never break and last lifetime of the range. The problem is failure in the switch is big fire hazard if someone was to go on 2 week vacation. because off position is normally in low eventually failure would only give low temperature.

I just disconnected the red and white plug from mine, different colors than yours but the only two wire plug to the control board. It doesn't care if the hot surface light is on or not, self clean my way

i just got a similar samsung stove. sometimes the right light comes on randomly (when not even being used) and sometimes its the left light! how could that be? all the generic videos i see point to the limiter switch at the actual burner. I havent dug into it yet myself but it loos like starting at the infinite switch is easier. thanks!

figured it out. if the knobs arent perfectly pointing straight up it will trigger the cooktop on light.

I have a question. I was wondering if you could help me out. I have a Samsung range and the front left dual element burner is messed up. When I only try to turn on the inside element the outside element will come on as well and both elements will not go off and on and off and on etc like they are supposed to. It gets too hot to cook with. It burns the food. Does it sound like it might be the infinite switch or something else?

Or you just need to disconnect the power from each switch, one by one, and see which switch will turn off the light

another problem this part DG44-01007B the triple switch is not even in stock that you can buy in store and not even online. and no wait ETA is 6 weeks, the manufacture doesn't want people fixing their used appliances. and deliberately not shipping parts to part dealers or consumers to fix in Canada.

Why would the switch on the one end affect the light on the other end? I ask because I know the infinite switch on one side is broken and the light is staying on on the same side. I’m hoping I don’t have TWO switches broken. :(

I would go thru again and confirm you dont have a bad switch for whatever reason. If you confirm your switch is good then you might have another switch that is no longer working correctly. The video should provide you with how to help find the issue.

In this case I had the power cable connected to the wall, as I needed power to test. But you must be very careful if you try this as if you touch something wrong you can fry your electronics or get serious injuries to yourself. Do at your own risk. Are you sure ? Because with the faulty infinite switch i guess the cooktop on light should stay on as well and surface can be hot too. But in my case the surface isnt hot at all and the cooktop on light is off as well

My light was on for quite a long time before i got around to fixing it. Several months. The stove top light is just an indicator light. The sooner you can fix any problems the better. Now i cant 100% for tell you if it dangerous but based on my experience. Different situations might be slightly different. I hope this anwer your question.

If you give a bit more information i can try and research why or common issues. Make, Model, which burner, possibly any other issues. I dont have a gas stove so not too sure on them that much.

it's these complicate flimsy dual and triple controls. there is no need for it 8 wires on switch meaning 4 controls 1. electricity flow. 2 . second control 3. triple control and 4. surface sensor 6 wires. 1. 1 temp control 2. dual control. 3 surface sensor . electric ranges are very basic appliance, they just make more and more complicate like wi fi which is not necessary

These triple and duo switches are too complex and uses swiss 1800 technology to control temperature and eventually it will break with multiple switches in one knob. everytime metal contacts with voltage it creates a carbon an wears out with springs. so these dual switch and triple switch is less durable than basic on switch. if you open the switch it is just made of metal and springs like a watch. and because it is 'mechanical it will wear out and too delicate and too complex controls with triple control. you have high voltage metal contacts that is too close to each other . The switch control knob doesn't give signals to the controller board and controller board sends electricity to each element like in digital electronics. These are switches mechanical controls like your light switch turning light on and off and wears out. The mechanics is electricity from house 'hot wire' goes to switch and exits from the switch to heating element. it is just the mechanism of the switch that is just too delicate and easily break. the light switch in your house don't short circuit because of the distance. but that small box you have lots of metal contacts that very close.

you can buy a new applicance for $1200 why pay $400 to repair a switch . and elements too if you cannot repair it yourself it's not worth paying $600 in labour to fix used applicance. all the elements will break or need replacing and the double switch will not least more than 5 years too.
