In my area of the states, it's quite easy to find pickled pig's feet. My mom used to love them. I don't eat meat anymore, but I was never able to stomach the idea of eating those or chicken feet - which aren't hard to find. And I'd eat anything.

We have some Kinder products here in the US. Including the Joy, which includes a toy. The law is that the candy/food can't completely encapsulate something non-edible. There was a Kinder-like chocolate that got around this by making the seam of the plastic shell stick out of the chocolate that covered it.

The patriotic Mtn Dew flavors sold so poorly that my local grocer still has stacks of 12 packs at $2.79 for each of the three flavors (the third is Star Spangled Splash with "red berry" flavors). Probably hurt them that they were released in June instead of July, and they've already announced that they're doing the same dumb release window next year.

@@cheapshow Yeah, it was supposed to be a patriotic summer promo or something like that. Since they also push the Baja flavors hard during the summer they stepped on their own toes. As for the red flavor, I'd put it squarely in the middle of the other two with blue in the top spot. I'm not really getting a specific berry flavor, but it's not bad.

Kinder eggs are banned because there was parental hysteria around non edible items being contained within edible ones after an incident where a kid choked on I think a wonder ball but they do still sell wonder balls now they just have more candy inside. I also recently did one of my volunteer events where I help hand out food to families in rural areas and we handed out hundreds and hundreds of those Mountain Dews because a grocery store gave us pallets of them because they couldn’t sell them even on clearance.

We actually do have Kinder Eggs in the US. I want to say they are packaged differently here, so the candy is inside a plastic egg, instead of plastic/toy being inside a chocolate egg. But maybe they don't even make them like that in the UK anymore.

All mtn dew is not allowed to be sold in the eu, it can be imported and sold, the mtn dew we have in the uk is very different

@cheapshow Calcium Disodium EDTA is an additive, it has been shown to have a strong link to reproductive issues and development and is carcinogenic, actually it seems like it's illegal to be sold in the uk at all as of 2023 and cannot be imported anymore So the place you bought this looks like it was being sold illegally

honestly, its a time and effort thing. The pod is out major concern and my "expertise", and KZbin is a tougher beast to master. If this channel ever kicked off properly, we could put more resources to it, but uploading to YT is folly for a podcast our size. They'd eat our downloads away from our RSS and we'd not get much cash from ads due to our content. So these Cheap Shot vids are "throwaway fun" to lure people to the podcast! I'm crap at video editing and stuff, so to add that to my weekly workload is... a lot, especially from a platform that may not reward us for the hard work!

The Kinder law is that non-food items can't be within a food item. The law in intention is meant to be to prevent non-edible components, such as sawdust or bonemeal, being added to food, when it comes to importation. This is also why Haggis is smuggled into the US. Domestic manufacture is prevented due to a law concerning choking hazards within food as another commenter pointed out.

There are two main ways to cook chicken feet, one where it's prepared as a cold dish - usually sour and spicy, or the other where it's stewed with potatoes, seafood, other meat products or just by itself. This is going for the first flavour I guess. TBH Lay's have loads of special flavours based on Chinese dishes here and they are all a little disappointing

You can get chicken feet in plastic bags in China like jerky. The flavour is nice but the texture is extremely unpleasant.
