Just wondering if you did anything special to get your tach working on the spitronics setup? I double checked that I hooked mine up correctly and made sure it’s outputting in the software and still don’t get any needle movement.

If you remove your front tires to pull an engine it will make your life easier. Like not dropping an engine and transmission at full boom height. My ceiling in my garage is low and unfinished like yours. with and now without a 3" body lift not ounce did my hoist hit the ceiling joist. Your probably right about modifying the flor board to get things to fit, but I would say should also try measuring before your final decision. If you think about it why not just a 1" body lift, that's as tall as 3". Then modify the tabs on the bellhousing and probably fit with or without messaging the floor board. I personally would have came up with more ideas to avoid modifying the floorboards. It is always best to have your transmission and t-case bolted to the engine and installed by the crossmember. Your engine needs some angle for oil drain back, you don't want you engine level. Also need to take into account how you rig sites at ride height and how it sits, because that will be your angle from which all other angles will derive from. I took measurements and angles when I did my 3.4l swap with also taking into account of suspension travel with no body lift. I'm actually thinking of adding a one inch body lift for an intake modification that will raise the intake plenum 1". The 1" body lift will give clearance for the plenum and the hood, it will also let me raise the t-case an inch. Only thing I need to take a closer look is the fan shroud and radiator.

The one and only motor I dropped out of the dozens of engines I've pulled and installed was on small tires. The height is very low in the shop, and everything barely fits in the door. And the whole point is NO BODY LIFT. I'll modify everything else to make it work, little bit here, little bit there, and eventually I'll fit. I want this truck to be as low as possible in the end, and don't want to build bumpers and sliders and everything again to match the body lift. I had the 2" body lift for years, since it was the supercharged 3.4, and now I'm over it.

I look at it like suspension geometry, change one and everything else changes. You can't have one without the other. You want stock looking (believe me I've tried) go back to stock. There is a middle ground, but trial error sometimes play apart in finding it.

The LS fits better in so many ways. I love how small they are compared to the 1UZ. But they definitely don't leave you for much room in cooling department. I do have a possible solution for this I am going to try with this build.
