The cross member you sawed out gives the frame strength and rigidity. the removal will allow the frame to flex and add stress to other points.

Swap out the carb to a smooth bore Nibbi PE30 or a Keihin PWK30. You will pick up even more power. I ported and decked my head 1mm on my Hawk which bumped it up to 10:1 compression ratio. The PWK30 is less restrictive was a big improvement over the Stock PZ30. The PE30 will give about the same performance increase and will be easier to access the idle speed and idle mixture screw as they are located on the right side of the carb.

Very nice work! I’m in the process of building up a Tbr7 right now swapping the cam & porting the head definitely makes a huge difference in power! Swapping to the Honda XR suspension is also making it so much better on & off road the showa suspension is so much better then our China bike suspension!

Unbolting the engine’s two forward bottom mounts, might have allowed it to pivot downwards enough for the head to be removed, without pulling the whole thing.

Without the top mount you will find that over time the frame will develop stress cracks and to remove the head you just unbolt the front mounts and the motor will pivot on the rear to allow space to pull the head off

Top end power won't increase a whole lot after porting. After porting and milling 1mm off the head and switching to a 30mm smooth bore carb I picked up a bunch of power in the mid range, and a bit more up top, but power still falls off past 7500 pretty quickly. These motors are limited by their cam profile. I have a cam I am putting in my CG250 coming up here soon. If you would like the information on where to get a hold of a cam for these motors let me know.

I had a similar engine and went for a hemispherical domed piston. That upped the compression nicely.

so idk english alot but if ported means the inlet hole is bigger than stock then i reccomend 28mm carburator it has too much power to hold down the front wheel in any gear i have a bashan 250 with a 300cc cylinder head and a ported cylinder wich fits 70mm piston (300cc has 72mm) (yours has 64mm piston)

I think for road use this bike is geared perfect for my weight. A lighter rider could stand a smaller rear or bigger front for sure.

Ive been going down the same path with my Hawk. I feel like I'm just chaising that next 1 hp. Been running ported heads on mine for almost a year now. Now i need to put new sprockets and chain then a olive green paint job. Who am i kidding when i finish all of that ill probably do an engine swap. Ive got 2 ninja 500 engines just sitting in my garage. Next winter i guess 😂

Put a 30mm smooth bore carb on it, if you think the ported head on its own is good, just wait. Also, I milled my head 1mm, aka .039", still plenty of room left for the valves.

Hey boss, could you recommend a carb for my ninja 250r? It's an 07, and I could REALLY use some more top end. Gonna change the sprocket soon but she has a hard time with highway speeds. Only carb I found that seems worth a damn is 1200 dollars which is nuts for a bike I bought for 500 bucks. I can weld, have a plasma cutter, a CNC, etc so some fab is doable. Any ideas on something thatd do better than the stock 2 barrel?

The head port and polish was a great idea. I always worry that the bottom end won't hold up. Are there any forums that say this crank or rod won't take it? Are their parts available if it does need a rebuild? A million years ago we used to replace 2 stoke rings after a few hours of racing and a crank one or two times a season. So I guess if you run this hard parts will be necessary.

maybe try a bigger filter, that small filter might be choking the motor. have seen changing the filter on a jeep, from a small cheap cone filter to a big K&N make a noticeable difference

Filter size won't matter. The biggest restriction on these engines in terms of top end power is the cam profile. The stock carbs venturi also holds the motor back a bit, especially after porting as well.

@@OddBallPerformance 10-4 I don't mess with small stuff that much mainly full size rigs was just a thought, I know that on a 4.0L out of a jeep those small cheap filter can be a restriction. I guess that on something that small it wouldn't matter as much

If you mill the head 80 thousandth for compression why not mill the top of the head the same amount which in turn would drop the rocker arm assembly and eliminate the expensive of new pushrods?

I put 9000 miles on the BSR 250 the older brother of this bike and I had 0 problems just changed the oil that's it and deleted the baffle that one was not counterbalanced so it started cracking some of the frames welding so I sold the son of a gun I did a 110 main jet and that was it I got vids on my channel
