Love it. Cheap bikes can be had. 3 years ago, i purchased a 2002 yamaha fz1 for $1,500. It needed new tires, new battery, and a good cleaning. I still have that bike and its been the most reliable vehicle ive ever owned. Starts instantly every damn time.

Yam, you should consider doing this as a ongoing segment once a quarter or twice a year type thing... I really like your "crusade" to show people that there are still lots of solid bikes for good deals out there. Showing examples of what you think looks like good deal bike and what looks like a "less good" deal bike is a valuable resource for the prospective newbie rider. I'd watch more of these type of videos.

End of My first year riding, I bought a 85 Goldwing LTD 1200 as my second bike. Took me the winter to get it running and road ready. Had been sitting 7 years. While the four cylinders are 35 years an older they still are fast for their weight, are really reliable, still comfortable and to me a lot of fun to ride. Their not a desirable bike, my buddies make fun of me for it since I’m 21 and it’s a grandpappy bike.

Looks like the used market settled down a bit. A year ago, It was hard to find a 150cc bike for under 3k. And a lot of Harleys owners trying to get 20k-30k for a 17 year old bike

I think the main reason people buy cheap Chinese bikes is because the websites offer financing for people with bad credit. None of the bikes you just showed could be purchased via programs like Affirm or PayTomorrow. So not only are people buying cheap, crappy bikes, they are also paying a lot more because of interest and fees.

I just purchased from my motorcycle mechanic.. a 1996 Yamaha Royal Star 1300 cc.. 36,000 mi on it in really mint condition.. my motorcycle mechanic had it for 3 years in the original owner had all the documentation of services treated it it like a baby.. it has a windshield.. running lights.. floorboard along with heel toe shifter... Saddlebags.. the touring package... The V4 engine really is so smooth.. I took it around the neighborhood a few times.. trying to find time to get it registered.. I had my mechanic go over it with a fine tooth comb he has two other bikes didn't have time to ride this one anymore I picked it up for .....$2000!! What a beautiful machine

I could get a Chinese shitbox, but not too far from where I am, is a 1989 Kawasaki GPZ305! It's basically original, runs great and the real kicker? £2500! What a steal!

Just bought a 1998 VFR800 with 46k miles on it. I paid $3500 The guy I got it from was a bike nut. His riding bikes were amazing but his collection of bikes that he didn't ride were even more incredible. The bike is in incredible shape and this guy replaced a whole bunch of stuff that was age appropriate like front fork seals, rear shock, sprockets and chain, etc Plus he fixed some of the known issues with this age VFR like the regulator otherwise the bike was bone stock. I put a 18" stainless Delkevic slip on exhaust and now it sounds amazing. This bike is fantastic to ride and it turns heads. all for $3500 in Northern California were everything is expensive.... Yam is speaking truth here.... good bikes can be had for pretty cheap still.

I bought a Lifan KPM 200 last year as my first bike, put about 800 miles on it and I still love it. I can see I will want some more power down the line, but as is it's really fun to ride. Much as I wanted an old Honda scrambler all the possible repairs weren't worth it and stressing over that while I'm still learning to just ride it made it a pass on anything used. It's pretty affordable for a brand new bike, which I really recommend, later on I'll certainly get something I may have to fix up.

My first bike was an 1975 Honda 400f, never skipped a beat. last year i bought an Yamaha xj900f 1991, 57000 miles. i paid $1800, this is in Denmark where the cheaper bikes as the Mt07 costs $14-15k new. Price was dropped from $2600 but it runs great, and has been looked after, so i am happy with it. Thanks for the video, i find this to be a great subject, and i do love that you put these cheap a** Chinees bikes to shame, and shows them that not everyone is for sale, i respect that.

My first street bike was a Honda VFR 800 from 2002 with over 84000 miles on it. It needed a little repair work, fork seals, wheel bearings, brakes, tires, coolant hoses, thermostat,, and a bit of cleaning the oil out of the airbox from heavy handed application of K and N oil. It ran good and was fun to ride until someone stole it right out of my driveway.

Yeah, but how many of these bikes actually have clean titles? Or work as advertised? I think a big part of the reason people go for those cheap Chinese bikes is because they're more "hassle free" then visiting 6 different listings, finding out 2 of them don't actually have the title, 2 of them don't have a clean title, 1 of them isn't working like they said or has tons of issues, and someone else just ghosts you.

If you look around deals on quality Chinese motorcycles like CFMoto are currently available. Within the last month I've seen some of their 700cc series bikes for barely over $5000. Dealer fees are going to bump up the OTD price but for their smaller bikes the price difference between something used or a new quality Chinese bike may be worth the guarantee of a trouble free purchase.

I have owned two of these bikes. The 250 nighthawk " Can not be killed by conventional weapons." and I had three 71 thru 73 CB 350s. Two ridable one parts bike for two hundred dollars. I was young and beat the living crap out of the CB 350s. I used them for everything. They were street models but I used them as street and trails. good times. You have to admit there is something cool about kick starting a street bike. I was thinking of going across the country and I was looking at a couple of old Gold Wings. They are good deals. That adventure is on hold for now.

Buying a used bike is not like buying a used car, every mile (even if its not many) on most of these bikes have been HARD miles. Also have yet to hear anybody on KZbin bring up the fact that most bike shops have policy's and wont work on bikes over 10-15 years old.

Goldwings have a certain appeal, you can get sweet ones any day for $2000 or so, but I don't see myself riding one much. The mileage doesn't even matter on a Goldwing until it hits maybe 150,000 to 200,000 miles. Then you might be approaching engine rebuild time.

Mines efi, I have zero regrets, got me on 2 wheels, developed a love for bikes and with putting it together gave me a slight understanding of how to work on them, learned valve adjustment, learning tire changing etc, even bought a second one although I own 2 Hondas

We used TW200’s in my MSF class. I had a good time on it, definitely imagined it would be a ton of fun to bomb around a farm or something with. Would be a little sketchy on the street.

I would definitely like to see how some of these older bikes hold up if you were to buy one as I am in that market myself

Man. I loved that Goldwing. If I lived in the USA I would fly out to Austin to pick it up. It would be worth the price of the holiday.

There's an old guy at the retirement community that has a goldwing 1100 aspencapade.... He also has a dually 1981 Dodge ram with a Cummins. He's a retired Vietnam vet.... Seen him coming down the road the other day and I gave him extra space cuz I was in my truck and I let him go and he gave me the weirdest look like as he went by on his bike. His head looked at me and then didn't turn like as his bike went. His head just turned slowly and stared at me as you went by. It was just very weird exactly the person I would expect to own that motorcycle in 2023... Same bike as hiss lol... I only have a intruder 800. I bet he'll walk me if I ever catch him in traffic

I have a hawk 250 Enduro Which is a somewhat Chinese bike. For only $1600 it was half the price of any used dual sport bike and it might not have as much power but for the price it's got enough power to go on the highway and you can't even find a dual sport that doesn't have wiring problems or blown motor for less than 2000. And the engine is based off an older Honda engine and the parts even bolt right on. Not all Chinese bikes are bad. Obviously if you want a sport bike your gonna have to get name brand but dirt bikes and dual sport Chinese bikes can be just as good(maybe a little slower) but it's about the fun you have and you can't have as much fun if you buy a dirt bike for 3000 compared to 1000. You'll be to worried about breaking parts and wrecking it lol

I had a Ninja 500. They're great bikes. They last forever and cost nothing to run. Can't fault it

In 2008 I bought a brand new off the dealer showroom floor 2008 Ninja 250 for $2500. I think their MSRP price was $2995 but sold for less. I should have kept it had I known it would be worth $1000 over cost in 2023.

Yam, I like your thoughts. Also, in Australia it possible to register an older bike on club/vintage reg. I don't have the confidence to buy a new/newer bike right now.

That would make a fun series. Eventually, there is always a great deal to be had on an old man's motorcycle. Unless it's a Vincent.

You showed a tbr7 box in the first 30 seconds, that my bike, 1 and a half years in and I've got 19,000 miles on it and really only had to deal with tires, brakes and replacing the throttle grip that cracked, it it good no but it cost 1400 and the cheapest thing I can find in my market comparable is 2000
