I have an 08’. It’s a very tricky bike to ride slow. It’s a blast at speed but incredibly twitchy and heavy handling down low. I’d recommend some time on a 600 and at least a couple years riding overall. Any litre bike from this era is pretty brutalistic but that’s the reason we love em.

I went from a ninja 400 to an 07 r1 a couple months ago. In my opinion the power delivery and throttle response is way smoother and much better. The transmission is smoother, more comfortable seating position, feels a lot sturdier overall. It is a little big and the steering lock sometimes makes turning in tight spots a pain. I've had to do a lot of maintenance on mine. Coolant flush, oil change, chain, coil packs, clutch, plugs, throttle body adjustment, and some other minor things. The left side of my engine still makes noise which i suspect is the stator so Ill have to get that looked at some point soon. Timing chain adjustor also rattles on startup but I've heard that isn't a massive deal. Other than that I love it. It is definitely fast and fun to push. I hear removing the catalytic converter massively reduces the under seat heat you were mentioning. I'm gutting mine soon, so we shall see. Best of luck with yours, ride safe.

Get that stator replaced asap. They’re notorious for blowing up and making even more of a mess. You wanna get an upgraded one with a shield so those magnets don’t wreak havoc.

If you are not a fan of the jumpiness and that you can't use 2nd and 3rd gear in town i would highly suggest a bigger rear sprocket and maybe smaller front sprocket. Will lose some top speed and you gain some rpm range control. Torque will be increased but so will your ability to control that Torque

I have an 03 r1 and before that i had a 93 ninja 600. If there was no highway available im pretty sure i could outride myself on 93 ninja because i was able to use it to its fullest potential. Unlike the r1 which i would require me to be an absolute professional to use to its fullest potential. I truly love my r1 but i would probably trade it for any newer 600. A 600 would be way easier to manipulate and i dont need that extra 20mph on the top end

What do you mean really by throttle mistakes?
@sparkthego
@sparkthego 2 ай бұрын
whiskey throttle, little too much throttle to start, it pulls you back, which makes you pull the throttle more which makes you get pulled back more which make you pull the throttle even more and so on. Its a common beginner throttle control mistake.

Take it easy out there mate, an R1 is a twitchy bike, so watch those bends. I suggest fitting it out with oggy knobs.

If you get a liter bike as a beginner, you must have a death wish. You´re simply asking for it at that point. As if a 600ccm supersport isn´t fast enough already, but it´s more forgiving since it´s full power comes up at the rev limiter. I rode bikes for 20 years before i got myself a R1 to put things into perspective.

Beautiful mini sermon at the end, really spoke to me in the Holy Spirit leading me here. My sins are an illness that I take to the greatest physician to help me overcome, to make me well in restoration in Christ likeness.

I hate it when people leave comments that are just recycled opinions from their own echo chamber. Bro, you were watching my video, but your mind was off somewhere else.
