Welcome back! This is basically part 2 of the 6,000# Chinese mini excavator journey. you can watch the initial review and video at • 6,000 Pound Diesel Chi...
Before you go saying that Yanmar is a crappy off brand machine I would encourage that you go do some research. They were the original inventors of the mini excavator and make some of the best Diesel engines in the world.

I sell a variation of these Chinese machines in Ontario, Canada. Specifically for my machines, we use yanmar or kubota engines, and italian or german pumps. Costs me a little extra but makes a world of a difference for a lot of my clientele that have operated these machines for their entire lives and just need something to get the work done around their property. The chinese mini ex's aren't everything bad you've heard stories of, but of course, you need to do your research. I've sent this video to dozens of clients who's primary concern is cost. I win nearly every time, so thanks for your work on this kind of stuff. I owe you a beer at least!

I looked into Chinese excavators. I went with a used kubota. Cat is junk if you want a simple machine. Cat uses electric over hydrolic. They are fast. The feel isn't there. I run machines for a living. I have run about everything. Some are fast some are slow. I rented a Yanmar 17 few years ago. It wasn't very impressive. Kubota for what I have run so far. They have impressed me for what they can do. Price range of a used machine. You can't beat it. Their engines are very reliable. They have made tractors for years. I got a KX41-3V 1300 hours for $14,000. Parts I can get anywhere. Buckets, teeth, exc. I may get a bigger one. But, It's done everything for me just fine. Some kubotas have angle blade. That's awesome very handy in every way.

Hey Michael, I see that you have experience with these machines. I have no experience at all, could you help me out please? I want to put machines for rent and I thought of beginning with a mini excavator and read the brand CAT is good. What do you think? Which model would be the best option and/or do you recommend another brand?

There's a lot of videos on Chinese equipment out there. I like this one because you've done a fair comparison between a quality machine and a budget Chinese excavator. Most guys who buy those Chinese loaders and diggers are DIY'ers and homeowners who don't use the equipment daily in a commercial setting.

The Chinese machine was labouring fairly hard when trying to break out but that could be the bucket as well. Either way it’s still a very capable machine. For the price it sure beats hiring one all the time.

This past spring i was in the position of either buying a brand new chinese 3 ton or a 20 year old Kobelco 3 ton and decided to go with the Kobelco. I know theres parts available and the chinese quality is just not there yet. i have putchased chinese attachments in the past and have always spent money on repairs or having to get parts custom machined to work.

I’m at these cross roads as well. Chinese parts are relatively cheap compared to big brand machines. Imagine replacing a track motor on a Chinese one vs kubota or cat ect. $600 for a Chinese one and it would be at least a few thousand for the latter.

Ive loved useing the yanmar as a rental for our projects. That said, we are considering buying the Agro so we can spread out jobs and not be in such a rush. Looks like a solid platform. That said, def agree with the yanmar quality. Operating without pump whine and stable movement. The more expensive systems purr like a smooth cat. Also love the coke bottle layout vs obese tub o lard. But at less than half price and intermittent use its hard to complain about agro.

I think the china unit has a fixed displacement pump, so it's just fast all the time. If it had a variable displacement pump like every other machine. I think it'll give that yanmar a run for its money... But it's built at a price point.

The Yanmar dug effortlessness. I could hear the other one straining when digging. A very nice machine, but wow 50K new? For wow, for the price difference the smaller one wasn’t all that bad. But how long would it last also would be extremely important. Nice video!

Well! Longevity depends on many factors. The Chinese stuffs like this machine runs for around 3 years and then off to the scrap yard. On the other hand, if you have extra parts and a proper mechanic service from the company that you bought it from, then you can make it work longer actually. Although, as I said, it all depends. My mate when he started off his gardening/landscaping company, he bought a cheap Chinese machine, and then bought a used Jcb from the profit of that. The most important aspects are service and spare parts!!

Well not to put too fine a point on it, but you could buy 3 of the NT30's and still have money left over for accessories for it... I can't imagine you are going to wear out 3 of them in the time it takes to break that 50k unit... The math don't add up.
@1bigapple2
@1bigapple2 2 ай бұрын
I think that you made a mistake. Do you see the arrow on the side of the track support. I believe that means that you should only load the tracks going in that direction. The reason being that in one direction the tracks on the ground are being drawn in tension (which is what you want) and in the opposite direction they are being compressed and crumpled up. You’ll notice that the big crawlers have a third drive wheel up in the middle of the top track. This means that no matter which direction the tractor is working, the track loading is always in tension.

And on any thing anyone buys there's always room for improvement to make it way better....

That wasn't even fair. It's like running the wrong end of a spoon through a bucket of ice cream vs the shovel end of the spoon. Most people that have multiple buckets for a full size or mini hoe could tell you a trenching bucket is easier on the pumps. The only real benefit I see is stability and traction.

Think he said $14K at auction. Can buy from the distributor for $19K. They are putting these on auction around the country - saw one sell for $10K and another as high as $21K, with median around $16K (need to add in buyer's premium for auction prices). Even at $19K+tax, I think they may make sense for small ranch/homestead. But at $20K, you are getting close to used prices for older name-brand machines (maybe $25K range). Personally, I'd pay more to find a good used name-brand - they are so much more precise/user-friendly than Chinese stuff (better hydraulic pumps/motors/valves/design).

This guy is clearly biased for the yanmar even though the chinese machine kicked it's ass in the lifting and very negligible difference otherwise which could be operator error. Sad.

Great video comparison. This may help the Chinese manufacturing to up its parts and quality, and companies ie @Yanmar to reduce theirs as more and more of these imports flood the U.S/Canadian/worldwide market.
