Compared with $3k for the Harbor Freight towable backhoe, this seems like a much better buy and useful for many more things.

This is if you can find one for 4k new like he did. Here in the midwest am seeing many are trying to import and sell for profit, so asking 6k or more… too much for what it is. 4k is the most I’d pay. And probably would have gotten one already if I could find one at that price. Have a full size backhoe already but this thing can get into the spots, and even slow and weak can build single track trail or earn profit doing certain jobs and underpinning

Harbor freight, China. Junk.
@butchtommasino8 ай бұрын
It's all a trade off. There's nothing comparable to this so you can't even ask yourself if an alternative is a better value. The closest thing is a used Japanese excavator like Andrew said, which would take a lot of mechanical skill and know-how to keep operating as long as a brand new Chinese unit would. If you had that kind of mechanical skill already you might as well buy the best used excavators on the market and fix those up instead and now you're not even in the same ballpark as these mini machinery. Sometimes that extra $1k-$2k is worth it too, just to avoid all the headaches involved with trying to get Chinese exports through customs and into a US port. The political climate around US/China trade is making it a lot harder for normal people to do business in that arena. When you pay a middleman a little extra you're paying for convenience and a higher likelihood that you get your machinery on time in good shape without a week of being on the phone with people who don't care whether you get your Chinese product or not.

Like you said, your video will seal a lot of them and raise the price. Because the stability needs to be watched a proper ropes should be considered vs the rain and sun shield. I bought a used Kubota KH-41 (1 1/2 tons about). 20 years ago and it now has 4600 hours, over double the hours when I bought it. I only rolled it once and grateful for the ROPS. I’m 82+ and still find chores to do year round. Kubota diesel engine a reliable engine and starts no issue even in Canadian winters. I doubt your machine ‘s engine will see 4600 hours but then for the price paid, buy 4-5 new ones as required. I prefer diesel but there is a price.. I consider myself hard on machines but not to your level - I would like your assessment after 500+ hours under your command. Thanks for the video!
@ConSeann3ryАй бұрын
Advice I saw was to to make sure and get one with telescoping tracks. They are that width so they can pack them in a shipping container. Of course now the price goes up a bit. There is the Rippa which has Kubota diesel. But once I started justifying that much I figured I would go a bit further and get a Yanmar.

Great video, Andrew. This is the first evaluation of lower priced excavators that was truly a test of what it can do and an honest assessment. The lack of weight will significantly impact how to use it and what it can do. Having the fixed thumb, makes you curl the load back in close to help with the load balance. To be honest I was pleasantly surprised with what that little machine (not a toy) was able to do. I thought that the B&S badge, should mean that the motor at least is made in the USA, so likely to be OK for local service and parts, but AGT appears to be Chinese company, so the B&S motor is also likely made in a B&S factory over there.

Also he did the one thing a lot of people miss and mess up on these. They ship with a light break in oil that only is good for about 5 hours, because it is designed to catch all the metal shavings and crap as the engine bores in. When people leave it in, it tends to kill the engine.

Oh, I like the size and price. I'd almost be tempted to buy one for myself! Looking forward to hearing what Andrew thinks of this.

Honestly, I thought these were a great deal when I saw them for 6k. Perfect for projects around the homestead. My k008-3 is about the same size, and was over 21k.

Just saw a huge lot of these mini excavators go at the last Richie Bros auction here in Phoenix this week. 1 guy bought several of these for $2500 each. Still new. Wanted to see one in action, thanks for the video!

Yeah, they are good for the price.

Here in Germany the machine is offered with four attachments for the equivalent of 4400 US dollars including shipping. This also includes a rotator gripper that is operated with the auxiliary circuit.

You should do a follow up after like a year of use and see what condition it's in. I've seen a few of these things that basically fell apart after a year or 2.

Something worth a look at Andrew. On those pine logs with the branch stubs sticking out. I saw a guy dig out one, probably about three inches into tree. He shaped it like a fat pencil. It was full of pine oil. (I think it was a pine tree, which species, I don know) He lit it with a flint stone and used it to start his fires, blew it out and reused it. That little machine that thought he could. Amazing.

You know the saying its more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow? Seems to apply to excavators too lol

Great video Andrew, I had my doubts in this machine but after this video I want my own one!
@joebacarella28295 ай бұрын
At $4,000, this is a steal for an average home owner who needs to move some big logs around and some digging prodjects, you sure were not doing that job by hand, it made pretty easy work of that. It seems a bit unstable, but you were doing a good job on it, once you know your limitations, well done.

Parts are always my biggest concern. Often they dont put things together like normal machines so it can be hard to adapt the closest part I can find and get it to work properly ,if at all. Hope you do updates on it as wear and tear takes its toll.
@ClinttheGreat8 ай бұрын
The parts pipeline is currently pretty strong according to some of the dealers I spoke with. A couple were concerned that parts could dry up down the road, however.
@szki2728 ай бұрын
Likely most of the parts could be sourced from hydraulic places like surpluscenter. As long as you are handy enough to do some basic work. The only parts that likely would be difficult would be track drive motors and swing motor.
@erik_dk8428 ай бұрын
All the Chinese machines are more or less identical, and many parts you can cut with a plasma and weld
@JimsEquipmentShed8 ай бұрын
It’s all off the shelf stuff, except for things like the boom, and the ring gear. Most everything on there can be sourced from a tractor supply house.
@NICKRITZER8 ай бұрын
The parts supply chains have gotten a lot better and honestly most of the hydraulic things are similar to other models already on the market. I've had mine for a few months and loved it. He had posted on a Facebook mini excavator page a couple of days ago and it threw me off seeing his name in there😂😂

Was NOT expecting this buy from Andrew, but great that as he is driving up to his castle, you can actually see how far the building work has been done on the large soon to ber closed in Multi garage, I sure hope you gets a full video on the entire build, would be so interesting. The Mini is kinda cute. when he starts trying to pull thyat large log, with him bouncing up and down , and the smiles on Andrew when he was getting that dang tree..haven't seen him smile like that in a LONG time. the little mini that could! Andrew Great Video! appreicate all the work that went into this, and all your videos, can't wait to see what 2024 will bring for you.

In the day this video was released: A quick search showed $5-$6k at retail and on E-Bay. Buy yours now before Andrew’s review raises the price. His was auction price also. If all the parts can be purchased in US I see this as a capable machine. Of course Andrew’s experience and operator skill makes this bucking carnival ride run smoother than most will probably manage.

This was the first Video I've seen of Andrew and got a kick out of the fact that as soon as he got into it he focused less on the digging aspect and just start picking stuff up. Watching him pull on that tree then pick up that motor and big tree bouncing around like carnival ride was great. I'm looking at something small like this to do yard work with and plow driveway in the winter. finding something like this for $4k or even less used would be a great find!
@AndrewCamarata2 ай бұрын
Once you give it a little time, you should start being able to get these used, but for how cheap they are, just buy a new one.

Always a joy to see another video roll in from Andrew! Nice little machine too. Also, I see your new garage building is coming right along. When are we going to see a video on that build? I like the rock look along the base of the building. You are one hard charger Andrew! Great job as usual!

I saw about 20 of these exact AGT excavators go for around $4k a month ago at an auction. Now I think they will go for more after this video actually showing them being strong and useful.

That little machine truly has a niche. Definitely beats using a shovel and has plenty of hyd power. I could see Andrew getting creative and adding a little more counter weight to the rear and hyd thumb. That would be the ticket.
@jaybreeden83888 ай бұрын
Thanks for this video...I have wondered if these things were any good. I think it could do anything I'd expect it to do...and it's cheaper than a compact tractor backhoe.

Yeah, that's way better than a backhoe attachment.

Bought a IGT 13 from an auction for $3500 and put in some roof drain pipe in and also loaded some tree debris in a dump trailer . Really did a nice job and works well with a 743 bobcat loader we already had , good purchase for us ! We later bought a grapple for loading logs and really like it . Much Better for loading logs than using the bucket and the thumb . The EM Way for me was A Ok for me for the price and uesage we will get out of it !

I have been curious about some of these Chinese excavators for some time. They seem like they could be a great option for homeowner use and could also be useful for some smaller plumbing companies and electricians. I wouldn't mind trying out one of the fully enclosed climate controlled machines that a little bigger. A log splitting attachment would be the perfect addition. I saw one machine that was similar to the one in this video and it included a hydraulic breaker, hydraulic auger along with a grapple and 3 buckets. I was looking at a 3-4 ton Chinese mini excavator only and it was $6000 to buy direct and I have no clue what transportation and other fees would be.
