This is a concise and to-the-point comparison between two great pedals. I love Boss pedals and have many of them, but in this case, the Behringer is a fine option. I also love the "less is more" approach to these effects. At lower levels, they are some of the most beautiful and usable modulation pedals. Thank you for this!

Construction Housing is most important when pcb inside is nesr identical.ive had Bossvpedals 10:06 40 years and still look andcsound great.i kept them in a Resin 6 pedal case for protection and portability. They still look brand new and get used by me alot.you decide

Ur missing the point . Studio plastic is fine the pedals don’t leave ur desk so u do the math spend 25$ and buy cool compressor or spend 200$ for a pedal that just has a expensive buffer

The real value in true vibrato pedals, IMO, is the extremely slow warble effect, like a malfunctioning tape machine. And because of that, it is really a shame that neither pedal goes slow enough. For that I like my BBE Mind Bender. It isn't transparent, to be sure - it does a number on your tone. But it warbles away.

You can mod the Behringer... I modded mine also to have more depth. Its tricky as it's a very small pcb but doable... And I'm not a soldering iron expert at all. I've been lucky.

Thanks. I was just about to spank £153 on a used mint condition vb2w on Reverb but this video showed me there’s not any real discernible difference, at least not to my ears anyhow. £25 for a new uv300 is a no brainer, and if I’m still desperate for a vb2w in a year’s time, I can always go for it then. 🙌

I have the behringer vibrato and i like the unlatch mode a lot. I wish all types of pedals, other than maybe dirt pedals, had an option for unlatch mode. I would totally love to use a flanger, tremelo, or delay pedal in that way.

Nice video. Well said to let the effect "breathe" and do its own thing. Seen some guitarists using equipment they weren't happy with because of this.

Yep, you need to play to the effect or just turn it off.

Nice one Jason, I have played a subdecay Quasar as a Vibrato as it's kinda got the dod vibrothang going on. I also love a Wilson haze U vibe which can be a pure wobble if you want. The subdecay siren is a bbd vibrato that is sensitive to playing pressure to alter the rate. I have a video of the Quasar but might have to showcase the others. Oh and the mr black Analog chorus vibrato makes some great sounds

Gonna binge watch the cheap vs expensive playlist. Love how in depth your reviews are and how you show all the cool features. I had no idea about the momentary vibrato feature too so can’t wait to mess with that. I already know where I can use that right away too. With my evertune guitar.now I can play the chords and parts on the Evertune and use momentary mode to add natural and consistent sounding vibrato to my chords. Amazing 🙏🙏🙏

Another great review. I like how you don’t just settle for the stock positions and actually tweak the knobs on the behringer to match the VB-2. Most reviews (from other people) don’t do that and that’s what we all want to see! Lol 😁 also +1 for playing the 90s famous riffs too. That’s literally what I wanted to hear. As soon as I heard the Peaches and Korn VB-2 licks I knew this was the right review video for me 😁 Great video can’t wait to see more 👍🤘

It’s pretty interesting to see how many expensive ‘lo fi’ pedals are just vibrato circuits which are modded to be able to edit tone, dry signal blend amount and a random feature

Your depth setting was slightly higher on the dials of the Boss, thus the reason that it appears to have more depth.

Fine comparison Jason...i think it's long been accepted the cheap clone is about as good as it gets here and any differences are so slight that they (if at all) are meaningless. Of course there's always the discussion about one being metal and therefore gig ready and the other plastic so it's not. I don't own anything Behringer, but with warranty & via word of mouth & forum talk there should be no issues here, unless you throw your pedals around on a daily basis, , but who does that? 🤔🤣 And the other thing of note is that the Waza version isn't made in Japan, but is apparently inspected in Japan. I think that's a shame for a so called premium Boss pedal with price to match (Aus $419 rrp). And sure, it typically sells for less than rrp, nonetheless for a single effect it's priced in the boutique 'hand made' category. Cheers. 😎👍

I heavily considered these two but ultimately bought the EHX EDDY instead for $70 used. I think its very comparible. Vibrato and chorus modes as well as expression/dynamic functionality.

@@aricfroze8971 That’s surprising to hear. I have considered upgrading but it’s still on the board after a year. Yes that envelope knob really makes it a sleeper! The chorus tone is good but I wish it was a little more organic, open, brighter (this functionality with the small clone sound yes please). If EHX ever did a v2 I’d be on it.

Totally agree with your thoughts. I don't really understand where you could possibly use vibrato as an effect beyond a song or two in an entire set. It's a pretty bonkers sound and some chorus pedals (notably the EHX Small Stone) already offer it. I can get that Powderfinger/NIrvana wobble with my one knob EHX Neo Clone. I've also got the inexpensive Nu-X Mod Core, which has seven different effects (including a comparable vibrato to those two demonstrated here). Save your money and buy the plastic Behringer over the Boss.

not entirely true. the Behringer can introduce clipping into your signal, depending on where it’s put in the signal chain. the VB-2 doesn’t do this no matter where you place it. the Behringer is still great for the money though
