You need to clarify when you say Chinese that you mean unknown cheap Chinese brands, as they are almost all made in China/Vietnam/Taiwan/Thailand. Cycling clothing is just like carbon fibre bikeframes, they are mostly made by a handful of factories in China or Taiwan, especially by companies like Monton who have their own brand in various countries but manufacture for many of the biggest cycling clothing brands

I have Scott shorts and they costed me 140 CAD$ they are basically the same as your "cheap" bibs but mine has the grippy fabric for the legs. my 2 cents is that if you look hard enough you can find some pretty good bibs without breaking the bank.

I’m searching for a some new bib shorts and there’s a lot of reviews here on youtube. Giant sounds reliable and looking at your video it seems to fit well with a great wide elastic band around the leg. I also see some great reviews on for example the 7mesh RK1. So 2 years after this video, is the Giant Elevate still one of your favourites to this day or is there something else you would recommend?

Sorry but I'm starting to think that bib shorts are a scam. I truly don't see how any of the "features" you showed justify a $200 price tag.

I'm planning on getting the Giant Revolt Advanced (gravel) at the Giant Vaughan Location, I was wondering in terms of professional bike size fitting before buying a bike and bike fitting after buying a bike, is there anyone you would recommend in the Greater Toronto Area? I just got my first bibs after riding shorts for a long time. I like the bibs because it doesn't have the tight waist band that starts to be slightly uncomfortable after a few hours. Also, I like how the bibs don't give me a muffin top... But that might just be my fatass.

Personally I don't have a huge preference between bibs and regular shorts. I have ridden thousands of miles, and multiple 100 mile rides on cycling shorts (not bibs) and they are just as good. The one thing you got to look for, just like this video says is the Chamois quality, that is the #1 thing you should be concerned with. I have found that the Chamois that are what they called 3D shape, do a much better job keeping your taint cool. Also, some of the cheap shorts come with a really thick Chamois without an ergonomic shape, that can be worse then a thin chamois, your package really starts getting in the way after 30 miles. One negative about bibs, imho, if you have an emergency bathroom situation, you have to take off your jersey before you can take your bib off. Just a thought. Ride on!
@johnmanuel75613 жыл бұрын
The thing with regular shorts is if you happened to be in between 2 sizes or if you lose weight, they may start to slide down and you will have to pull them up or you will be showing some crack to everybody. With bibs you don’t need to pull them up and there is no slippage or that tight band around your waist. So easier to have a better fit.

600 gbp bike, 300 gbp bibs - totally crazy. There are good bibs for 40-50 gbp. Any bibs will die due to washing after every ride. Of course bibs for 10 gbp will probably die very soon if not after first usage
@purpleaki71354 жыл бұрын
Mate I think he's Canadian and it is super expensive over there. Went over there once a few years back when the £ was 2.5 times their $ and was still shocked. British people outside of London, Surrey, etc. are pretty sensible when it comes to shopping for cycling kit. In my opinion. £110 for one pair of shorts - not a chance.

unless you are doing races, good bibs are really a better investment than an expensive bike. it will increase the ride quality, enjoyment, length, exercise.. the expensive bike will make you a bit faster. Doesnt matter that much really..

Great review. From the video the more expensive ones seem to be better material and the chamois has less seems that could cause irritation. I'm trying Le Col bibs for the first time this weekend. They were $160 USD. I'm currently using Wattie Ink Bibs and those have been good to me. I had cheap Sugoi brand ones and they didn't last very long.

Yeah, sorry. You won't catch me riding in $200 bibs. I find it odd how some people justify spending crazy enormous amounts of money on drastically overpriced cycling goods. The word "suckers" comes to mind. Instead we should be spending that money on another bike (MTB, gravel, road, SS) so we're on two wheels more, instead of working long hours to buy our next $400 kit.
