Those older sleds were much harder to ride on anything but a trail. It take huge amounts of skill and practice to sidehill or do anything technical with them. Props to Ethan for getting it back up the hill.

....as a snowmaker all i can say is they are doing it all wrong... those older sleds dont like being pinned to the wall to try and climb and take entirely different technique then the newer sleds since the rev x platform changed everything.

@@hellbringer09 I beg to differ, with our older sleds we side hill all the time, hill climb, jump of cliffs and do a crap ton of stupid things. It just takes a really good sled and lots of skill. We have a 250hp 1170cc polaris 680 ultra,(yes the engine is swapped) and that thing can go anywhere, it just takes the right person. In conclusion, older sleds can do what they failed to do, but there used to new sleds that are easy to maneuver. However, the verticle escape series is very wide. I own a 2002 verticle escape rmk 800 with nitrous. And that thing was a pain, but once again it can be done.

But generally since the rev platform came out sleds ride more like dirtbikes then those sofas of old is more so i was getting at but yeah 100% get where youre coming from. Mountains and altitude always pays to have more displacement and power to just be able to keep momentum up which is the name of the game on any sled generally.

Really makes you appreciate how far sleds have come. I used to have sleds similar to this from the 90s, and now I have a 2017 Arctic Cat XF8000 153", and the new one is so effortless to sidehill compared to the old ones, while still remaining pretty stable on flat ground

Major props for getting that sled back out of there with a broken trailing arm! Like most motorsports, it's all about the rider, not the equipment. But then it kinda felt like the dude ran it into a tree at speed on purpose. Not saying he *did* do it on purpose, but it kinda looks/feels that way after he took off so neat and composed. If he'd have shot for more clearance vs trying to show off...

Colorado native @ 50yrs old suddenly .. Been avid for almost 30 years.. The 2005 800 Vertical escape with a 151 is what i ride.. The new 15-20k sleds make me nervous only because realistically anything with more climbing ability just crosses that fine line of going to far .. When I was 12 I had a polaris xc440 and I was ditch running going as fast as I could to stay on top of the deep soft snow and the DNR stopped me. Needless to say she sunk. He just wanted to see my tags. Took 2 trucks to pull me out and some long straps. Wide skies, wide long tracks, and the power of today's sleds is much much nicer.
