It's amazing how a well made bait can make all the difference. Doesn't HAVE to be a super high dollar bait, as long as it does what it's supposed to. Great video!

Man these type of videos are amazing! This helps to understand the way a crankbait works underwater. I love how you use a pool to show the actions. I have not been able to see the actions well on the crankbaits in the waters I've fished due to being dirty and murky. Thanks and please keep this up!

These pool videos are great! I'd like to request some videos showing different techniques for different lures in the pool. Seeing what type of movements attract the fish most, helps to teach beginners what they are trying to accomplish. Plus, seeing how the different lures wor, help with purchase decisions.

Another really good video! Your channel has become the first fishing channel I look for every evening. I don't think I've ever thrown a Wiggle Wart. I think those were popular when I was in the Navy and didn't get to do a lot of bass fishing. I'm going to remedy that and pick up a few pre-rap warts from Dinger and paint them up. I like the crazy action of that crank bait. When I was fishing tournaments in the late 70's and early 80's at the ripe old age of 16 all I threw were Bomber crankbaits. I think I may still have one or two left :D

Running these baits in a pool is good for visibility but in a nice clear creek where you can see them deflecting off the rocks would be great.

If I saw correctly, you used direct line tie on some baits, snaps or split rings on others. That will change the action Just remember that you can also change the action and rise rate just by changing something as minor as the weight of the split rings. Sounds goofy but I’ve seen it happen. Obviously hook size and weight (wire thickness) can make a very significant difference. The last bait that you said you painted from a blank appeared to have relatively heavy/larger hooks. Changing from say a 3x to a 1x hook can REALLY alter the action If you want to do an eye opening video, take the same bait, change to heavy hooks, split rings, and do a direct tie and see the difference Great video on actions. Thx

I fished a lot of tournaments. 20 a year for 20 years. The first thing I learned was to Sharpen hooks modern anglers don't even know how important that is. Hooks will catch if you sharpen hooks not all hooks are sharp and they don't stay sharp. A hook sharpener is easy peasy. Also, I want a straight running bait, some times I bent the eye to make the bait curve so I could run it into bluffs casting parallel. It all about matching your intuitive fishing skills to your style and make a presentation the bass will take. Colors can make a difference never used any perfectly look alike baits. The reason, a spinnerbait does not look like anything and that 1 bait has always been the money maker. A skirted jig and the Rebel deep wee R and buzz bait. Never used a chatter bait but one time never caught a fish on it but my homemade spinnerbaits caught more. Thanks for a great Video. Awesome learning video.

Love your videos of course but I have a different take with the rate of rise on crankbaits. I have caught so many smallmouth on rapala crankbaits just by deflecting cover then letting it rise. Especially when I am not paying attention or messing with gear and the lure floats back to the top a lot of times triggers a topwater strike. Also when u have faster floating baits it is easier to fish it over vegetation which allow more opportunities to catch fish.

Max Muzones 110 in cold and Lucky Craft in warm. Biggest different between RC Stx is the way it sits in the water. The 110 has a nose down attitude. I am a jerkbait fanatic and admit that it’s honestly an undiagnosed disease lol. Go with the 110. Coming from a guy who has a huge box of STXs and an even bigger box of 110s lol

Does anyone know anything about a lure called the “Short Wart”? I got it from my dad and it is definitely old. If u know anything about it let me know
@ryans90295 жыл бұрын
The short wart was a shorter billed wart with a slightly longer body. Good crankbait. Just wasn't around nearly as long. There was also a flat wart which was like a regular wiggle wart with flat sides and slightly more narrow bill.. Both were decent cranks. The original wee wart, wiggle wart, and mag warts were better producers generally.

Forgive a novice question but what do you mean by deflection and hunting. And, the truth is, in this video, I can't see what these lures are doing very well until they're fairly close but it could be my 66-year old eyes.
@foreignbeggar37836 жыл бұрын
Dennis Nicholson when talking about deflection, they’re talking about how the lure deflects off of rocks or whatever is on the bottom. and the hunt is the movement of the bait. it looks like it’s hunting something.

Thanks, Joey, for answering my question. It always pays to ask.
