I'm also addicted to saucijzenbroodjes, I always reheat them a bit when coming home at 180 centigrade in a pre heated oven for like 8 minutes, delicious. 😊

Just remembered a great saucijzenbroodje story! I was at my parent's for some family celebration and they had a red cocker spaniel at the time. The dog originally belonged to one of my uncles and his family who lived in Bolivia for some years where they had this dog and her dad. They had to get back to The Netherlands because his program ended and they moved into a rental home which didn't allow pets so the dog went to my parents. And she was fairly young at that time, about 5 months old. Back in Bolivia, she grew up eating whatever fell to the floor. Apparently that's not unusual in Bolivia. Of course once here she got decent dog food and all, but at that party we had saucijzenbroodjes, hot from the oven of course. One of my sisters had eaten one half way and I think she was standing up from the couch or something. Anyway, the other half of the saucijzenbroodje slipped from the plate onto the carpet and the dog grabbed it so quickly. Of course dogs love meaty stuff and I think it's also that instinct that kicked in. She ended up staying with my parents until she died of old age in the summer of 2013. Her name was Katy and she kind of looked like captain Janeway from the seasons where she had loose hair. You know, Cocker Spaniels have long hair on their ears.

Great, now please do cheap supermarket filet americain vs a dayfresh butchers or deli version (don't forget to season with pepper and salt). Maybe even try a martino version (with unions, pickles and special sauce)(tip add a little tabasco) or a belgian prepare (extra creamy).👍👍

That is so random. Over the weekend i have been discussing making sausijzenbroodjes on a forum i frequent. The topic was on amandelbroodjes (pastry with almond paste) not being sold at the supermarkt anymore (forgot to check this afternoon) and it went from appelbroodjes (apple filling) to sausijzenbroodjes.

This reminds me of a big red cat I had some 15 years ago, who also loved to paw my saucijzenbroodjes. I didn't even know Bijenkorf still had saucijzenbroodjes. The last time I was there (about 4 years ago) they didn't have them anymore. When I worked in Rotterdam in the '80s and '90s, I bought them there a lot. They used to have a sausage of minced veal, which was absolutely scrumptious. Later they changed the ingredients, and I didn't like them so much anymore, but the one you have looks very tasty. When I'm in Rotterdam, I'm going to try them again.

It's the taste that counts then how much it cost at least that's how I looked at it when I lived there for 29 years. Also, I used to work at De Bijenkorf and wasn't that hip on their Saucijzenbroodjes but the rest of their snacks were fabulous well, at least in the 70's that was.

My dad used to make the best saucijzen broodjes , would have eaten one at least 4 or 5 times a week as a teenager ( we lived above our bakery 😊) but they need to be hot/ warm. Still ask him to make them sometimes for a birthday or New Year party. Never liked the ones from de Bijenkorf way back 30+ years ago guess it has not changed

Oehh love the nails Michelle🥰 Also, if you guys ever planning on going to Deventer, or somewhere near, I strongly reccomend the saucijzenbroodjes from Lentelink😍 Don't go to late in the day, because they sell out haha! I don't really like saucijzenbroodjes that much (prefer worstenbroodjes 9/10 times) they make me feel nauseous, but these ones I love hahah. **Spoiler, they have a liiiitle bit of cheese on them, wich make them very unique in my opinion**

You can do this easily in the air fryer too, on 180° Celsius in about 7 minutes and halfway turn them around! 😋 This also applies to worstenbroodjes! ✌🏼
