Does this wiring have for the dash liights
@poortouringhotwiregarage56172 жыл бұрын
No. You have to wire those yourself coming off of your headlight switch. Every gauge cluster has different style bulbs and sockets so they don't even bother supplying them. Just reuse your original ones or go custom

Do you have a video of installing this harness? Mainly the original column
@poortouringhotwiregarage56172 жыл бұрын
Really depends on what column you're trying to wire. If it's a mid 70's to 80's GM column, the connectors that this harness come with "plug right in" supposedly. I don't like running those columns in my hot rods because I think they look cheesy and out of place in an old car. This is my most recent video.kzbin.info/www/bejne/lXaqoJiYbJV_bsk It is the beginning of installing the harness in my dad's '40 Chevy truck. I'm using the original column in it with an aftermarket clamp on turn signal switch and the ignition switch is on the dash.

For the brake switch do I use a two connect switch instead of a switch that have a four wire connector
@poortouringhotwiregarage56173 жыл бұрын
I always use a 2 post. A 4 wire connector is probably to disable / enable cruise control. Just a guess

Hi I have the same harness I’m trying to wire up a 1949 Chevy truck I’m using the 4 prong brake switch this is a more modern build my question is do you use the Orange wire to plug in to the brake switch as of now I have no brake lights and no running light in front but everything else works this is my first one I’ve wired up so just a little confused

Do you have any think on wireing the turn signal that mounts on sterrring
@poortouringhotwiregarage5617 Жыл бұрын
I need to do a video on that still, but no. Best advice I can give you is buy a universal 12v turn signal switch off of eBay or Amazon. They have a color coded wiring diagram that comes with them and it's pretty self explanatory. This is VERY IMPORTANT though!! Make sure you wire everything in and install all of the correct bulbs front and rear (usually 1157s) or the flasher relay WON'T work!! A test light doesn't draw enough current to switch the relay

@@poortouringhotwiregarage5617 Thanks. For quick reply

Thank you for your quick reply and good information. It would be great if you do one on turn signal because I don't think you can wire a older turn signal controller to the fuse box with 2 flashers .keep up the good work
@poortouringhotwiregarage5617 Жыл бұрын
@@fredroberts1823 you can wire up the original turn signal switches on a lot of older vehicles. I did it on my 1st car years ago ('50 Pontiac Chieftain) but you won't be able to wire the hazard flasher in without running a separate switch. Guess I really need to make that turn signal video soon

Is the wiring harness from southwest performance
@poortouringhotwiregarage56172 жыл бұрын
No. You can get them all day long on ebay for around $85. Just search - 12 circuit universal harness. Avoid the ones with the narrow rectangular fuse box, they're pretty junkie. Get the square GM style box style ones insead
