With many people concerned about rising energy prices, I thought I'd share how we cut our cooking bill significantly through the use of a haybox. We use our hay box a lot. It uses a fraction of the energy of a slow cooker/crock pot, is safer, and will never need replacing. It's not necessary to build one like ours, they can be put together very simply, which will be the subject of a future video.
This video was filmed in a hut during extreme winds. There's a certain amount of background noise and roof rattling. That's just the reality of filming in real world conditions in the far north of Scotland.
The ingredients I use in this video.
2 medium onions.
1 very small leek.
Handful of kale.
Handful of cabbage.
300g carrot.
600g potato.
150g whole oats.
200g red lentils.
Herbs of choice.
2 cloves of garlic.
1/3tsp chili flakes.
Salt and pepper.
Drizzle of oil.
3 stock cubes.
