Great info! I was able to just turn and push the whole door switch assembly through the panel so I didn’t have to mess with unplugging those wires. I also attached a string to the wire harness of the old mirror so I could easily pull the new mirror’s harness through.

This video was extremely helpful. I have a 2003 and my door was a little different. There is no higher panel and there are two phillips screws at the bottom to release the door panel. The plug for the window was under the splash cover between the handle and the mirror bolts. Thank you.

30 minutes start to finish and that includes dropping one of the fasterners into the door and having to remove a speaker. Thanks brother.

Ha, there is nothing more frustrating than to have those fasteners pop out. Sometimes the metal "clip" breaks as well. TIP to anyone, Autozone now carries replacement fasteners. Glad you had quick success. Thanks for the comment.

Thank you, thank you! $35 to an eBay boneyard seller, he sent us a mirror that is three years older (and 5 years prettier!) that the broken one, then less than 15 minutes start to finish, and that counts grabbing the right tools! An extra pair of long, slender, mechanically inclined hands (my wife's) made releasing the electrical connection, lining things up, and a couple of other things easier, too.

I have a 2001 Ford F150, had to replace entire mirror and it is different from a 2000 ford. The mirror was hard to get off the truck and a bitch to get new one on.. The panel screws are in different places. Two screws are at bottom of panel and the third is in the same place as the video, behind the door latch. I lifted off panel and a white plastic fastener broke, not a clip but a hard piece. Still, got the panel off, remove the light bulb from the panel, just turn and pull out.Be very carefull when removing mirror, on the bottom left , there is a plastic pc. that slips over a thin flat plastic pc, attached to truck. Trying to put new mirror on over that flat plastic pc and also get the mirror on flat is a bitch! This video really helped, but this truck is not the same as a 2001. Here is a tip!!! When you unplug the old mirror's wire, tie a long string to the end of the old wire, then pull the old mirror off and pull the wire out. Now you remove the string, tie it to the end of the new mirror's wire, so you can pull the wire through the door, because the wire won't just find its way to the hole. Just gently pull the string until the wire appears. Good luck!!

I didn't realize that Ford changed the design. As I am sure you know, AutoZone finally carries those little plastic fasteners now. I remember spending a fortune at the dealer replacing fasteners back in the day. Thanks for sharing this info and the great tips. I am sure many will thank-you.

My passenger side has 2 pressed pins for the electrical for the window and lock control and it the wires will not come out I’ve tried everything.

I have to replace one of these AGAIN. The replacement went bad, and wasn't very good to begin with; vibrated quite a lot. If yours were as good as OEM, would you share the brand and where you got them? Thanks

Yes, quality is all over the board on the aftermarket versions of these. I'd recommend looking the the junk yard or pull a part to find an original.

DIY may be a cheap-ass hack, but the part isn't cheap at all, especially considering when the mirror is broken and stolen due to neighbor's vengeance and vandalism.
