My old quality Sony's 6.2" were 20 years old, So your reviews helped a lot looking for a replacement The Elac b6.2 arrived today. I wanted the extra size to match as near as possible to my Sony speakers. Well what a difference. 100% approve of these. very balanced and totally agree that they sound very open. Perfect choice thanks to you. My studio is back sounding like it should. Fender Rhodes piano even sounds like a new instrument on the harmonics. Well worth buying.

I just got the B62 based on your reviews cheapaudioman! The Andrew Jones Pioneer FS52 tower and BS22 bookshelves have opened my ears to another sound. So much so that I sold my PSB Stratus Silvers over the FS52. The PSB were beautiful and sounded great, but just sounded fake compared to the Pioneer tower. This just made me more interested in these Andrew Jones Elacs. The Elac B62 is as you've described. The midrange can be a bit strong, but not fatiguing, proven by my 2.5 hour listening sessions, cut short by needing to get to bed. I will be watching for a deal on the Elac UniFi or Reference version, but in the mean time, I'll stay up late because I keep wanting to hear another song on the B62. Final note, these sounded best on Pioneer Elite receivers, not Marantz. Pioneer is brighter than Marantz, but clearer. The effect was the the Elac's opened up, not brightened.

I purchased a pair of these a year ago from the ELAC outlet for $209.98...B stock, supposedly with a blemish which I could not see anywhere. After a year, the one thing I will say is that if you feed these speakers a quality signal, you will be rewarded with amazing sound. I stream Hi-Res from my PC from Qobuz through my Onkyo A-5VL and you will have an orgasmic listening experience...trust me.

I have just bought a Dali Specktor 2 together with the award winning ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2. Same price in Europe. All I have to say is that a great suprise is, for sure, the Specktor 2. While the ELAC ares firm, well built, heavy, robust and neutral, like a floorstanding speaker on a small pack, the Dali Specktor 2 are like a fresh air or surprising view in your life. Is like a great surprise for an old man. While ELAC bass are strong, Dali surprises you with its smooth highs.

@@Theinfinitethought I think the 5.2 have the better bass than the 6.2’s. That surprised me given the larger driver. The 6.2 (though also being front-ported) seemed more impacted by how close or far they were from the wall and you’re listening area. The Bass was harder to dial in. The 5.2’s not nearly as much so I sent the 6.2’s back. Also I think the 5.2’s is better at lower volume than the 6.2’s.

@@tarodt7484 Sorry about the ridiculously long time for me to respond. I had zero idea you asked a question. I’ll answer it anyway… The 5.2’s seem to have easier to dial in bass than the 6.2’s. If you’re a bit limited on space, the 5.2’s seem much more forgiving and better at lower volumes. I think the 5.2’s have a nice tight & punchy bass. It’s a great speaker, but that’s just me.

Hey Randy i have these coming from amazon for $240 (somehow the tax is almost $20? Oh well) and i wanted to know if you think my Marantz NR1200 will push them well. It pushes 75 x 2 8 ohm at 0.08% thd. If you have not heard it then keep in mind the sound of that Marantz nr1711 or whatever 7.1 you have/had. Ill be listening at least 7 feet away (pretty sure my listening spot is exactly 8 foot away) and the elacs will be replacing sony sscs5. Do the elacs sound markedly better than the sony? I’m taking into consideration that I didn’t have to pay full retail $350. Anyway also wanted to say thanks for being on KZbin and cranking out such great content. Take care!

I just got these in today, and I'm going to show my lack of experience with high-end audio. Randy, I listened to you, and what you had to say about these speakers, and I've listened, and read many other peoples reviews. You were spot on, as always. But I heard/read where other people said that you need a powerful amp to drive these. I've heard/read that they're no good for lower volume listening. But man! I'm powering these with a Fosi, 50 watt per channel, amp, and they're miles ahead of every other set of speakers that I own! They're louder than I can stand at half volume, and still sound detailed and full at lower volumes. Couldn't be happier! Being a goofball myself, I appreciate your goofball approach in your videos, but it's clear that you know your sh**! Keep up the great work!

Randy, the Cheapaudioman, you offer really down to earth reviews , like we were talking about stereo at a party!!! A couple of questions. What amp / receiver were you using ? When you say, "the best I ever heard from any speaker."..... about certain music sound reproductions. Did you meany ANY other speaker or a y other Bookshelf speaker? I have these , purchased this summer, used in my basement studio setup construed during COVID pandemic hibernation, paired with previously purchased Fluance Signature Series Surround HiFi Bookshelf speakers. I'm toying with replacing the Flus , with either another pair of these Elacs or new Triangle BRO3s . Played on a Denon DRA 800H Receiver, i have yet to play tge system at 70 to 73 dbs. I have to try that. I play music in this "studio" for listening pleasure AND play My Music while I attempt to play my drums to My Music. Took up the drums after a 51 year hiatus. Im retired now, this year, at 69 years of age. IYO, would adding the BRO3s add or detract to the sound produced . I ususally play both pairs simultaneously , especially when playing the drums. The drums were a xmas gift from my wife in 2018. So the noise i produce is Her Fault . Happy Holidays to all.

I use the Emotiva TA-100 and the Anthem Integrated 225 for evaluation. Occasionally, I'll use the Fosi Audio class d amp. When I said this was the best speaker I had ever heard I was referring to the Klipsch RP600m, elac debut reference, and kef ls50 and all of the other speakers I've listened to lately. The horizontal sound stage and imaging was better than anything I had heard up to this point. With that said, overall, I still prefer other speakers.

For speaker testing and comparison I always use digital. If I'm just enjoying the speaker after I've done my "testing" if you can call it that I'll throw on some vinyl. Second, these speakers are meant to be driven and you're going to need a strong amp to get the best out of them. Third, to your question, they are front ported, so you can put them right up against your wall if you want, it will make no difference. Are they worth it? Absolutely! You can't go wrong with any speaker designed by Andrew Jones.

Hi Randy, I love your break-downs of speakers and the personality behind it. I have a 7.1 surround with Elac 6.2's and a SVS PB4000 sub in a large room. What would you have to say about screwing mounts to backs of four BS41's and adding them as height speakers to make 7.1.4 ? If this is a cheap alternative to four SVS Prime Elevation speakers, I may consider doing so. Either the BS41's will be awesome as my heights, or they may be under powered or out of their natural habitat.. all matching tweeters would be nice.. 🤷‍♂️
@cheapaudioman
@cheapaudioman 2 жыл бұрын
I think for height speakers they may not be the best choice. They are not very articulate. They have oodles of bass for their size but with their rear port they may not be ideal. For height speakers I don’t think it’s critical for everything to be perfectly matched tweeter wise. The moukey 2 way with the front port mag be a good alternative and will have more emphasis on the treble

Another good video! Are there any speakers that have the "X" factor that give the detail/clarity at low levels and high levels? Elac Debut Reference? Klipsch RP600M? My listening field is greater than 7' (probably over 10') and I have a 2 channel set up. I like being able to hear the detail at low levels as well as high. I don't want to have to turn it up or down to get rid of bad treble/bass/midrange. Maybe I'm asking for the perfect speak which I know doesn't exist. Maybe it's the Debut B6.2 like you said at the end of your review. Again, great video.

I'd take a hard look at the Klipsch RP600M. It plays very nicely at lower volumes and still maintains it's clarity and sound signature. KEF Q150 also does but you may be pushing it without a sub at that distance. Polk S20. Have a video coming out tomorrow and that maybe a very good sub $300 choice.

I agree with your take on the bass content at lower volumes. I currently live in a small apartment and can't really get these cookin', gotta be a good neighbor. My friend has a pair in a large living room and we sit pretty far away and I think these B6.2's sound bigger, fuller, more exciting in his room than in my new little apartment. Even my YPAO goosed the 63Hz EQ a couple of notches after calibration on my system. My room is too square and small to let these things shine, serious phase cancellation right where my head rests in my chair. Still, for the $$ I couldn't be happier with these B6.2's.

Thank you for your channel and for the information you share with those of us who cherish a better listening experience. I have been a music nut for a lot of years and I have always wanted to hear music in a way that moves my soul. I love to have that visceral experience that you talk about; I enjoy hearing music coming from different places and different ways with respect to the speakers. Whenever my wife comments about my moving speakers around, buying new speakers or equipment, etc., I always tell her that I am a "music engineer." However, you are the true engineer; I am just a man who knows what he likes to hear, what I should hear, and doing what I need to do to bring that about. The ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2's have the potential to deliver in a way that I look forward to. I have owned Elac's before, but to be honest I really did not give them a chance because I did not like how they looked and that affected how I allowed myself to hear them. But I have grown since 2016 and that is allowing me to "hear" with my ears and my eyes! I come from the era of Pioneer, Marantz, Sansui, Technic, Fisher, and McIntosh, just to name a few, and that experience colors what I expect from my equipment. In fact, 2014 was my first foray into "bookshelf" speakers. Before that I was into floor standing speakers such as Pioneer, Cerwin-Vega and McIntosh, but I think these Elac's are going to fill that space. Thank you sir for your reviews and your professionalism!
