I appreciate you making a video on this lens for filming, since - as you say - not many people seem to use it for that (yet?). I am thinking about getting it with the Pocket4K. Your video was a bit all over the place though I have to say. I think the most important thing is how the VC works in video (compared to the Lumix), if and how the af works and if the difference in dof is really worth the enormous weight difference. Maybe its only really worth it with the speedbooster XL, so you can get the most fov out of it.

Sorry my presentation is scattered. I haven't done a comprehensive comparison between that and the Lumix in terms of image stabilization, so maybe that's something I could do for a follow up. Anecdotally, the VC works pretty well with the GH5s which has no IBIS. When working with a speedbooster, you can pretty much kiss AF goodbye so that's a non-consideration-it's manual focus only. Also, remember, the extra f-stops not only get you shallower DoF but also more light

Ever notice the clicking sound when changing aperture while in live view for video? Please help
@PhillipRPeck
@PhillipRPeck 5 жыл бұрын
It's probably the sound of the blades clicking into place as you change aperture. I hear a faint shhk sound but that's normal. It's a downside of using photo lenses for video
@JadonMoerdyk
@JadonMoerdyk 5 жыл бұрын
Phillip R Peck so it is normal?
@PhillipRPeck
@PhillipRPeck 5 жыл бұрын
@@JadonMoerdyk Yes. I mean, how loud is it? All lenses with electronic controls make noises whether it's autofocus, aperture or stabilization. They have motors and mechanical parts that are whirring and clacking about. But if it's really loud, then maybe there's something wrong, but I never really hear mine (my hearing isn't the greatest) unless I listen for it but those noises can definitely be picked up by an on camera mic

Phillip R Peck if I change the aperture while filming from 3.2 to 2.8 it’s like a really loud clicking noise I’ve seen some other people have had the same problem but no solutions, you can’t miss it
@PhillipRPeck
@PhillipRPeck 5 жыл бұрын
@@JadonMoerdyk Hmm, I've used it on a Sony a7Sii, GH5s and Pocket Cinema Camera and haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary. When I googled it, it seemed to be an issue for Nikon users. I really don't think anything is wrong with the lens, I would just say if audio is critical, don't change your aperture in the middle of a take. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful

I’ve been using the canon 24-105 for most of my videos and it’s great but I really want that 2.8 and the canon 24-70 has no IS. Really kinda looking for that perfect 2.8 zoom lense but I don’t like some of those negatives you pointed out. Does the perfect lense even exist?
@PhillipRPeck
@PhillipRPeck 3 жыл бұрын
Nope. The new 24-70 Sigmas for mirrorless systems seem pretty great but they are focus by wire. I've actually switched to the Canon 24-105 f/4. I don't mind the f/4 because I use it on the GH5s with a speedbooster which gives me f/2.5. I really like the extra length of the 24-105. 24-70 just came to seem too limited to me

@@PhillipRPeck I’m using a crop sensor if I use a speed booster will it crop more? Why do t they just put IS in the 24-70? Bums me out

Would you recommend it for crop sensor like canon 90D for video? Thanks

Yes, it would work fine on the 90D. A 17-50 or 17-55 lens would be a bit smaller, lighter, and cheaper, though

@@PhillipRPeck yeah, i got the 90D because of the 120fps. Do you recommend getting another full frame body for video and still where i need 120 fps to use the 90D?
@PhillipRPeck
@PhillipRPeck 3 жыл бұрын
@@EvoWorkout Not unless you're unhappy with what the 90D is giving you or there's something about a full frame camera that you can't do with the 90D. I mostly shoot video on Micro 4/3 cameras so I'm not all about that full frame life. I do think it's smart to buy lenses that give you the most flexibility. Date the body, marry the lenses (kind of a cliché but it works)

guys, I have an issue with the Tamron 24/70 f2.8 g2 and the canon Eos R. if I put the optical stabilizer on the lens and I shot a video with a pan or a circular movement around a subject, let's say from left to right, the final video get some sort of skipping frame, it's like the stabilizer tries to keep the subject in the center until the camera movement it's too much and than skip a frame to recenter the optical stabilizer and start again. I don't know how to solve it, it's absolutely the VC on the lens, and it happens only with the canon EOS R, If I use it on Eos 80D or 5D I have no problems... (and it's not the shutter speed or the SD card) any ideas??
