I have been painting with this a bit more and I am actually shocked how well it worked for a cheap unit like that. I would not say it was contractor unit but for a homeowner unit I think it works pretty well and I would pick it over every sprayer I have used under $500.....it actually would work great with a longer line and better gun setup.

I have a graco x5 I have used for 3 years. I've painted numerous exteriors. Stained over 30 fences, painted many cabinets and built ins, doors you name it. Still running strong. I can't believe it. When I bought it the manager at SW told me it wouldn't last, he was wrong lol. Also running a 75ft hose on it, the same manager told me the pump couldn't handle it.

Make sure the pressure is out of the line before cleaning or priming?
@mikethepainter6 ай бұрын
good practice to do it anytime you are switching that valve. priming or cleaning. Priming it usually does not have pressure but cleaning it always will. Best to stick that spray nozzle in a bucket and pull the trigger to create the habit.

we got one, and I dosen't work at all. The inline filter can't get in the hole, it Is loose inside the grip, and we need to make the paint so thin before the machine can spray it out. can you help os?
@mikethepainter6 ай бұрын
the inline filters that come with the unit are really crap. I bought another one But they are a tight fit in the gun. They sort of press in there. once paint is in the line they stay in place. You may need to thin and strain the paint no more than 15% but probably about that to get it to pick up. The screen is pretty fine. Put it on the prime run the motor for a bit....then turn it off and switch to spray. Pull the trigger and keep it on spray until paint comes through the line. at the spray gun. then put on the spray nozzle set the pressure. Also it will not run until you turn the pressure nob up so turn up the pressure nob until it starts running.

One of my good friends sold his quadplex to this stupid woman and she hired the cheapest painters she could find. They sprayed the whole exterior in a day and did a horrible job it started to peel off the doors the next day because they sprayed latex over oil base and got overspray everywhere. I’ve never seen such horrible work in my life and those guys walked away with 4 grand in their pockets from that 💩 job they did. The property manager which is a neighbor would’ve gladly done it for half that price and done a decent job. Obviously he wouldn’t have done it in a day since he’s in his 60s and is still recovering from knee surgery but for a couple extra days it would’ve been a good job unlike those hacks. But this lady is clueless and doesn’t understand how to operate rentals. Not only HO’s need to see this but new guys getting started in the business need it too. Thanks Mike 👍🏻
@mikethepainter Жыл бұрын
Oh yea they are out there.
@bingobunga8995 Жыл бұрын
@@mikethepainter not only are they out there, they are everywhere in the state of Florida. It’s horrible and there’s no state license to stop these bottom feeders or at least slow them down. Yea sure some counties/municipals require their own license to work in that town/county but it’s not state wide so it’s pointless and it’s stupid cause guys in those areas can charge 3-5x as much as compared to the rest of the state just because you need the license to operate and so they only stay in those small areas. It’s great for them if they live there and sucks for everyone else who’s competent in the trade and has to compete with bottom feeder prices. Another thing is all these gated retirement communities have their own separate regulations for trades which is even dumber so to work in ONE gated community you need to have all this bs paperwork filed with the HOA and the prices for labor skyrocket so what do the HO’s do? They sneak guys in for the lower prices. Give em the code for the gate write their name on the list and they go work in there unlicensed and unregistered anyway. F$&king STUPID. So I don’t just paint I gotta do everything. I’m waiting for the day a painter gets regulated like a plumber or an electrician here STATEWIDE. General Contractor license doesn’t matter either when there’s so little regulation because HO’s will avoid hiring those guys to save a little bit of money and 3/4 of the GCs are hacks anyway. I’ve had to come in to fix GC’s work bc they got fired bc they didn’t know wtf they were doing and screwed up a kitchen or a bathroom. I sub out work that requires a license and I add my 10% to their price. But Florida is for the most part like the Wild West. That’s why they got bridges and condos collapsing and sink holes all the time cause of piss poor planning and sloppy half assed work. Having a reputation is worth more than its weight in gold when you get in with the right groups of people.
@Mike-qo4kp Жыл бұрын
@@bingobunga8995whether or not you hire someone with a license means very little and definitely does not guarantee quality work or a fair price. My friend just got hit for 15k to reside a chimney with t1-11. 8 sheets total. Painting a house is well beyond the scope of homeowners. Handymen and Carpenters siders plumbers as well. Adding an airless does NOT make the job easier by any means. Airless sprayers are a tool production painters need to keep labor costs down and stay competitive price wise.

Yea your right. the old magnum was the x9 then they came out with the other ones. I never paid attention to them because the were not commercial units. no way to give the readers digest version of how to use an airless paint sprayer in 10 minutes. too much information to know.
