When I was a teenager 100 years ago (early 80's) I bought an Aria Pro II Bobcat. It sounded great, but I chopped out the bridge pup and put in a Gotoh humbucker. That guitar sounded so good to me except one thing shown here after the 17 minute mark - that spring jangle. You know those spring covers everyone removes from their strats? Well, they hid the bit of foam I added to stop that noise hahaha. It worked. Today I still have that guitar, without the cover back there, but the foam still intact. And although I haven't played it in years (I broke the whammy bridge screw and there are only 2 of them!) I hope to fix it one day. That jangle is easy to hide, although annoying. The guitar you were playing with that problem sounded the best of the three imo. The Tele didn't sound at all like a tele, but it sure had a nice tone when you hit that psychedelic vibe. Definitely useful for that sound. But that weird named one I had high hopes for just because of the name. But it was shite. Sorry to be opinionated because I know 1/3 of guitarists will say I'm wrong on every point. And I'm good with that, as we all should be!

Tell you what, this brings back memories. I used to live in a German town where MSA is located. They used to be called "Musik Schnerr" and it was basically a grubby little music store in Amberg, Bavaria. I went in and I bought my very first guitar there, a Vision Strat style guitar...for about 99 D-Marks then....about 50 EUR nowadays. I kept it until recently and it still did a decent job as a couch guitar with my Roland Microcube. Not a bad guitar at all

I got a second hand Benson guitar about 15 years back. They were kind of the budget offering of the time. It wasn't perfect by any means, but it taught me some stuff about frets and nuts and pickups and in time I got it to play in a way that suited me. I would have been a lot more disappointed if I had paid big money for a big brand guitar which needed a lot of work. But it seems to me that this is normal even with higher end guitars. So it seems that The Beatles may have been right - Money Can't Buy Me Love!

Bit of Advice Elmo please test these cheap guitars using a practice amp like a 30watt marshall for example without pedals as the thing is an expensive amp will make even the worst guitars sound good , so would be interesting to see how they compare through a cheap amp like 9/10 players use at home.

Hi Elmo, great Job as always. I own the exact same Vision strat and, if I can add something, for me the only highlight of this guitar is the neck, and particularly the 16"some fretboard radius...but then they messed up with the sub-paar medium frets (tho' nicely mounted and dressed). I buyed the guitar as a modding platform...but now I am thinking to sell it and invest money on something else....I mean, it's no crap per se, but not that exciting either....

Personally, I wouldn't even try using the whammy bar in a cheapo guitar like this. In my first guitar (cheapo too), I blocked the whammy to fix it and make it keep tuning a bit better. They shouldn't even install them in beginner guitars, in my opinion
@HarrisonBarclay-yr1zb3 ай бұрын
Indeed
@jeromewagschal94853 ай бұрын
They probably install them because it's a selling point that reminds novice players of the "real" thing... But I agree, 95% of the time the tremolos on these super-cheap guitars are totally unusable...
@castleanthrax18333 ай бұрын
Guitars in this price bracket can be great value for money or completely unusable. They are made so quickly, and the people who make them spend so little time on each guitar that you never know if you're going to be lucky or not UNTIL you receive it. I'm always amazed at how anyone can turn a profit by selling them so cheaply.
@aaabbb-py5xd3 ай бұрын
And you know this how? By thinking the obvious or by having worked in similar outfits
@castleanthrax18333 ай бұрын
@aaabbb-py5xd I don't have any first-hand experience, but I know what the components cost to build a guitar, and I'm economically competent. They're exceptional guitars for the price, providing you get one that has a well cut nut and decent fretwork, but at the pace they're building them, they aren't all that way. There's no room (in the profit margin) to be meticulous at their jobs, so it's inevitable that more than the average percentage are sold with manufacturing defects, albeit most are only minor. It's unfortunate, too, because it'll put a beginner off learning to play.
@aaabbb-py5xd3 ай бұрын
@@castleanthrax1833 So potentially some spiel rivaling the "journalistic" "standards" of CNN/BBC/FOX et al, where entire articles can be written well before any staff is sent out to keep up the appearances. Case in point, I have no doubt that design and manufacturing choices are made for each price point. But sprinkled around this obviously true fact are statements regarding the pace of production, which you're apparently privy to, along with component costs, all with I guess as much credibility I can demand from a KZbin comment. My complaint is that this reeks of the formula of employing the obvious as foundation to support the daydreaming required to reach whatever headline is required. And no, I've no intention of buying this guitar, or any guitar, so guess I'm just here to post a rant lol

I BEGGED MSA after hearing the bridge pickup on the Vision to send one to me in the US and I’d gladly pay whatever shipping charges there were (as well as the price of the guitar, of course.) They said they had no way to ship to America. (I…okay..?) Obviously it’s something I just don’t understand. Three times I implored them.

Might not be licensed to ship to the US. I wonder if you could find one by a second hand dealer in Europe or the UK that can ship to the US. Might want to look at Andertons in the UK. They can ship all over the world and they might be able to be a middleman for you.

Hello, I have a spark 40 at home and I don't really like it, I want a new amp. it just sounds cheap, maybe because of the speaker. I tried a few katanas but they sound even worse than spark 40 to me. I saw spark 2 is coming out and looking the sponsored review videos it looks like it sounds way better than spark 40 but I'm sceptical. What are your opinions? Should I get spark 2 or switch so something else? I live in apartment and don't want an ultra expensive and loud tube amp setup I just want something that sounds good to use in apartment and for a bit of recording.
