Thanks again for the very qualified assessment. Not like many others, a sales event in which every piece of junk is praised and products selected especially for the video are demonstrated. Which often have nothing to do with the parts that are sold in stores other than the color. For me you are the benchmark for high-quality content and credibility. I feel the need to tell you this. Keep it up. Thanks and greetings Robby from Germany

I'm planning on buying a JS-380. It's good to know that the nut is cut well! That's something that I've heard in other reviews too, that the nut is cut well. I can install a string tree if I need to, that won't be a problem, I don't usually bend that low. :) I already have a Jet JS-300. I've had it for at least six months now. It needs a bit of a setup. The intonation is a bit off on the 6th string (I use heavier gauge strings because I tune down), so that needs to be fixed. But it's a very good guitar for the money. There is just one problem with the JS-300: the jack was too flimsy. I heard that in a review by Steve Cassidy (KZbin), and I had the same experience. Within a couple of days, it started cutting out. So if you're going for the JS..300, you can count on needing a new jack. For me it wasn't a problem, I can do soldering good enough to be able to take care of minor things like that.

guess that gonna stick with Jet JS400. just ordered some new pickups, locking tuners, tremolo and few other parts to it. liking it so much that feeling like replacing the parts is better idea than just buying a new guitar on the price range of 750-950. friends said that i should just buy a new one in the 750-950 price range but just not feeling it and instead gonna stick with soon to be modded JS400. tremendous how much bang for your buck you are able to get these days in the pickup market when you go outside of big name brands, all three pickups were only 130 euros shipping included.

I bought a 300 about 18 months ago and since then it’s become my number 1 (recently sold an American Standard because it wasn’t being used). Over time I’ve replaced the tuners, string tree, pickups (now HSS) and pots/switch but it’s still under €300 and it’s absolutely sensational

Thanks for another great video and honest review Elmo it’s much appreciated. That’s a major issue you’ve identified with the trem design, unfortunately it looks like it will be an inherent problem with all of the JS-480’s. I nearly bought one on there release because I wanted an S-type with a rosewood fretboard to mod with EMG SL-20 pickups and electronics but I was put off by the look of the gold trem and other gold hardware on the JS-480’s which for me looks garish and makes the guitar look really cheap. Seems it’s not just the look of the trem buts its functionality that isn’t great.

My JS400 is the one staying in tune the best! Absolutely perfect! On the other side i had 2 PRS SE Bonnie Pink & Silver Sky as well as a Cort (which u think of could put some Guitars together the right way as being the largest Manufacturer of the world) Duality which i sent back for that exact reason: they didn't stay in tune whatsoever, they where totally unplayable. So i think it could happen with any Brand and Trem System, not just Jet.

Thanks for the review. It's nice to see that Jet are still going strong. Despite now owning multiple guitars (around 6 plus a bass an acoustic and an Ozark resonator at the last count), my teenage son picks up his Jet JS400 the majority of the time. He loves that guitar, maybe because it was his first "serious" electric but whatever the reasons, it's the instrument he bonded with the most and the one he does his best playing on for sure. Back when I bought it it was around the £165 mark I think. Amazing value and we definitely got a good one with no QC or manufacturing issues. Had a proper set up done on it by a real luthier when he first got it (no new parts or real work were deemed necessary, just tweaked the action and intonation, and gave it a thorough check up and some decent strings). Aside from that and ongoing regular string changes since, it stays in tune and it's never missed a beat. This weekend I ordered him a Sire S7 as a reward for his progress and passes in his guitar gradings over the past six months - he picked it over a PRS SE Custom and a Fender Player series Strat although he doesn't know he's actually getting it yet - a nice (hopefully) surprise after the weekend. The added bonus of his choice was that the dent to my wallet was also a little less than I was expecting! Anyway, for anyone thinking about a Jet, and if the 300/400's remain available, they're definitely worthy of consideration, and certainly shouldn't be dismissed out of hand purely because they're extremely cheap. Even if, on paper, these newer models have upped the game a bit, I'm not sure that at twice the cost you're going to get twice the instrument.
@bluwng3 күн бұрын
I wouldn’t worry about the string popping out, I’ve noticed over time the string embeds itself in the nut groove and it goes away same for the pinging sound you had on a Squier all go away eventually. This is if and only if the nut is cut properly if not…then cut it properly.

Great video Elmo \m/ Not bad guitar I got lucky with my Js-380, but I'm not in love with it the nut for big bends on open strings they just pop out haha

Great reviw as usual, thanx. The issue that drives me mad is the continual postal problems with trying things out and sending them back. I recently tried a sire s5 which although nice was dissapointing in its utter lack of mojo. They all get made of same parts in the same factory..what am I trying to say..I want an affordable strat that works sounds good and has character and soul. The 380 looks like it will tick my boxes but I am afraid I will get one and be disappointed..as I would with a Fendy-wendy player probably for 2 times the price. I think the 380 specs are confusing..here (austria) its down as having a 'linde' (basswood/lime tree) body not roasted poplar. As a carpenter I can't imagine poplar being good body material but then G&L manage it. All this roasting is getting silly..it doesn't make a great deal of difference. So, in short I will have to consider all this while stroking my beard thinking..'do I want to put myself through this continually for want of a quick fix or should I build a partscaster..and a partstele and leave all the schnick schnack and carrying of large boxes to the post office'

I want a strat to look like a strat, but I don't know if I'll got to JET JS-380; Squier CV 60's or Sire S5... I just don't know, for the look I like more the CV 60 but the neck and the narrow frets don't seems so good, the JS-380 looks perfect but I prefer chrome hardware. The Sire looks good but is not like a fender design, the jack location.

When you put all the extra parts compared to 400 series, its actually cheaper to buy 480. Black one is 380€. 400 series (219€) + 40 for basic gold trem, 50 for locking tuners, 50 for some basic pickups and 50 for installation comes up to to 409€. Free bonuses are rosewood fretboard, roasted poplar body, gold hardware and clay dot inlays.

Mmmm.. pienso igual..

Since they are affordable it is likely that a beginner might have one. So, please tell the trick how to block the whammy bar immovable to avoid messing with tuning instead of practicing. Also, it might be nice to have the pick up selection mentioned when playing. Yamaha has also budget friendly models in their Pacifica series.

Didn't care for either Jet JS model pups through the Cube but they sound useable through the Marshall. OK, not great. But then it seems like lots of youtubers swap the pups out of their Jets anyway. The trem issue is nuts, no excuse, and the sticker on the neck says "QC Pass" lol. I was pondering the JT series, no trems but who knows what's lurking in QC fails.
@MrPolevaulterАй бұрын
You never know. I'm probably going to try one at some point.
@bluwng3 күн бұрын
I don’t like whammy test because the system is to heavily dependent on how you set it up and how you use it, example , if you dive often and set it up to dive like say the Frudua method then it will be in perfect tune after a dive bomb the same guitar not setup in this way will be all out of whack. Physics and mechanics say the guitar cannot return to perfect tune after a dive bomb and pull up if not setup that way plus a dive and pull up will end in a different configuration so don’t expect them to be the same. No such thing as a bad spring unless they lose their ability to spring, they are just a coil of metal with a set K factor, neither good or bad.

Better off buying a js 400 for 169 and spending the extra 210 on a set of vanson locking tuners £35, £90 on a set of tonerider pups, £10 on a graph tech string tree, £20 on some bridge saddles and £55 on new pots, capacitor, switch, jack. Then you will have a top gtar

Had wrong specs for that JS-480. Color white, SSS-pickups etc. It definitely has 2-point bridge, humbucker bridge pickup, master Vol and Tone compared to JS-380 more traditional vol-tone-tone.

I had high hopes for these latest models from Jet, but the aged plastic parts are a big turn off, also very disappointing is that the string tree is still not a rolling one. Add to this the trem issue on the 480 , and i think i won't be buying one. HB are due to release a Fusion 3, i am more than happy with my original Fusion, so i will wait and see how the new model is if/when it is released.
