Man, cannot WAIT for the teardown/scope video, been waiting for a good teardown video from somebody that knows small motors ever since you threatened to do a mod video for the HF :) makes me wish I needed some paint correction and had an excuse to swing by, I'm in town but my clear coat is so bad it probably needs to be redone entirely. Thanks for doing what you do, I learn something new all the time on this channel!

I know it's been a few years but I decided to purchase this polisher because of this video. It's no longer $79. I paid $109. Still way cheaper than many others. I did order the 5" backing plate at the same time. I'm not a professional. I only detail my own vehicles so I really can't see paying hundreds of dollars for something I am only going to use a few times a year. So far I have used it on my truck and on my Wife's Audi and it worked great. The trigger and speed control seems a little funky but once you get used to it it's workable. I don't have much to compare it to but it seems to have tremendous power. Maybe too much power for a beginner. Thankfully I got to watch many of your videos and some others before I even attempted to put this on my paint. Thanks for putting all your videos on KZbin. They let guys like me attempt things safely that we otherwise wouldn't even try. Yeah I write like you talk. Sorry. Keep talking though.

Another great review Scott! Got the $40 non-digital harbor freight model after watching your other video as it's the first time I've really cut and polished my truck. It had horrible water spots/scratches/etc from being outside the last 5 years. Made the paint look better than new! I was astounded. Going to practice a few more times on the truck and wife's car before moving on to the new vette. Had a few 'noob' questions for a detailing pro: 1) I was confused as to what the 'hook and loop' attachment system was referring to? Obviously the harbor freight model has a velcro method for attaching the pads. Not sure if that's the same thing? 2) How do you maintain your pads after you're done using them? Since a lot of them deal with hydrophobic liquids, wasn't sure how to keep the pads in their best condition since you probably can't just use water? Maybe compressed air? 3) After trying the 7" backing plate w/ the 8" pads, I have to agree w/ you the 5" is the way to go. The 7" seems just a 'bit' too big. Looking for recommendations on 5" pads & backing plate. What's your go to for bad scratches, for polishing away water spots, and for apply wax/glaze? Thanks and keep up the good videos! Subscribed! :)

Months ago I commented on this video. At the time I havent tried mine yet and I havent taken any of my 2 detailing courses. I already used mine on 2 cars and it is a very good machine. I bought mine in the UK and in the UK it is the Autojack DAP 150. Im happy with it so far. Mine keeps its speed memory. When I stop and start.again, it always starts on the speed I had just used. I now need a smaller polisher. I recommend this polisher

So Scott, after watching pretty much all of your videos I went ahead and picked one of these HYET units up for around $60. With zero prior experience I said "to hell with it" and dove right in, learning nervous as all hell on my Black Caddy SRX (Just like the white one you did). Purple Power V&B wash, 5" backing plate, Hexlogic Quantum (OR WT BK) pads, Meguairs Ultimate Compound, MU Polish, Mother's Clay, and MU Liquid wax. I'm speechless with the results. This car hasn't looked this good since the day it left the assembly line. Thank you for all of your highly detailed and informative videos. Now to tackle the interior!

Hey Scott, just wondering if you have any additional thoughts or feedback on this machine after a few years? I'm looking at one of these or the Torq22D. For an experienced detailer that used to be a perfectionist with detailing all of my personal vehicles, and in recent years I haven't had the time or energy to dedicate to the craft. I'm looking to get back into it this summer and put a fresh shine on my own vehicles. I've never used anything other than a Porter Cable 7336, and a rotary before that.. Shows how long it's been 😁 Things have truly evolved!

My goodness its so loud, I probly couldn't hear my headphones running that thing. Rupes tools are very quiet balanced tools. That fancy speed control is neat until it stops working. Just wondering who do you send the tool to when it stops working?? Do you just by another? Rupes had my polisher repaired and returned in the same week. Rupes are expensive but the customer service and training they offer is second to none.

Bought the Harbor Freight item# 69924 8mm d/a polisher after watching your recommend polishers video and I love it!!! The Harbor Freight 69924 polisher appears to be of a slightly higher quality than the Harbor Freight polisher you recommend (apparently there's two models) however the body is a little thicker. After watching this video I used your link and bought this long throw polisher. I was going to buy the shurhold but the cheapest I could find it for was $207. Less than $80 bucks for this thing is a steel!!! Your channel is awesome, I've learned a lot of great tips and no BS truths from your vids and my two cars thank you for it!!! I have a black 2008 ZO6 Corvette with paint hard as glass and a silver 2011 Audi S6 with very hard paint as well. I tried auto part store level polishers and compounds and the paint on the vett just laughed at me :( I think I have enough knowledge from watching your vids and "AMMO" after I receive the long throw to get better results this time. Thanks for your contributions to the community and keep up the good work!!!
