This method adopts the basic principle of the ZEST hive way of doing things. It uses crushed comb in nylon bags hung up to drain down over a couple of days. The left over contents are heat treated to harvest. It is less messy than conventional spun extraction and does not return frames to different hives. The cleaned frames can be dipped in the hot wax and recycled back to the bees in any hive. The bees do the recycling. This method must be better than paying a fortune for an extractor and using it for just a few hours a year.

Nice one Laurence, I love your passion for the honey. Couldn't be more different to the approach that you must take to process honey in bulk. Great for the kids though as you said.

I use a crush and strain for my 10 hives: I use a deep, round chip frier basket inside a bucket. Then I mash the comb with a steel potato masher. About 70% comes out the first day

Exactly the reason for choosing flow hives..no mess and the bees re use the wax cappings...started with 1 now I have 4 in my 1st year.

Natural wax is very useful, and in Iraq it is sold more expensive than canned honey, and the price of a natural kilo reaches 50 US dollars and more for some beekeepers.

Easier to do using a cheesecloth, your gloved hands and a large bowl and feels soooooo good squeezing all the honey out using your hands
