That went together nicely! It's funny how fast you can sink money into these things! Thanks Pete!

I’m just about to do exactly the same overhaul on a Perkins AD3/152 -it sits in a Volvo BM-T 430. I got the traktor for free because the farmer don’t have the time or energy to fix it. The engine is rusted to a hault because it has been exposed to the elements for years -rain and snow has penetraded via the exhaustpipe . I just want to thank you for your videos -it can’t get any better than this👍😀. Almost like being back to school again. Tnx a million times 👍👍😀😀

A lot of projects would be good if we had two people but unfortunately we tend to work on projects by our self when we have the time. Great video my friend. Have A Merry Christmas.

Does the tractor use cut of head gasket or straight head gasket and it doesn’t matter once the oil and water holes match up ?

Pete, Do you know where the engine serial number is located on the AD3.152 ? Thanks man!

I see you use a straight gasket but removed a cut off edge one

I am disgusted. I think the head gasket blew yesterday on my 1998 MF 231. White smoke everywhere and it never gave me an indication it was running hot until it was too late! Been a very good tractor to me. How expensive is this job? Thanks

It can Be a head gasket hard to tell without seeing it but if you have a bad injector you will have white smoke too. Is the coolest pushing out of the rad Or bubbles in the coolant with the rad cap removed. Make sure you take the cap off when the engine is cool you can get burnt. If that looks good I would loosen one of the injector lines at a time and see if the engine sounds different when loosed taking it and open another one and see if the engine runs differently till you do all do you injectors. If you find one that when you loosen off and the sound of the engine doesn’t change I would remove that injector get it checked.Hope this helps have a good one

cheap homesteading coolant is pushing out everywhere when I started it cold this morning when I took it off the trailer. No white smoke but coolant was blowing everywhere, from somewhere. It was difficult to start also. The engine wanted to “lock” as I was spinning it over to start it. I don’t see any signs that there is water in the oil.

It sounds like a he’d gasket. You probably have to pull the he’d off And take a look.

cheap homesteading I have a mechanic coming to look at it. If it’s the head gasket I found a Fel-Pro Top Gasket kit for the Perkins AD3.152 at my local O’Reilly Autoparts for $78. Part number HS21118C.

cheap homesteading Where can I purchase new head bolts? My mechanic looked at the tractor and it did blow the head gasket.

You can't use that ruler to check that surface like that... Idk if it matters with that diesel so much... or even a gas engine cuz I'm learning, (I guess) but I know those parts probably have to be milled with truing tolerances set at least within .000" +/- .005"... js... I don't like fucking with engines except to change some big parts on some big big ones maybe, I really enjoy working as a heavy equipment mechanic, they're a rare breed and underappreciated... I mean I only know one real one and that's myself ... fuck an engi and a neer...
@stevefuller17794 жыл бұрын
Been doing them for almost 50 years, probably done a few hundred by now, using a straight edge to check the head is flat is fine, it ain't formula one! they rarely warp anyway, it is more important, on these engines to make sure the liners have not sunk too far below the block surface, most gasket failures on these engines are caused by sunken liners as they move about when the engine is running and wear the sealing rings, on the gasket, away.
