Cowspiracy is the one that got me. 101 reasons to go vegan is super informative and it made me 100% for health reasons to go vegan. I want to do it for ethic reasons of course, but let's be honest... I'm selfish and sometimes I'm not thinking about that baby cow when I eat my dulce de leche in the morning. But the environmental and the health reasons hit me much more because I don't want to get sick and damage my health from eating dairy and eggs and I don't want to hurt the environment in such a profound way just for food when there are other choices.
@CheapLazyVegan9 жыл бұрын
+NiNiMeggie there are just so many reasons for veganism. For me, it was definitely the animal cruelty that got me. I don't know if anything else would've convinced me. But ALL the reasons just work together to the ultimate conclusion!! :)
@biagasparetto8 жыл бұрын
Those two are great to begin with, but you should definitely watch Earthlings and it will really help you understand the cruelty because it is sometimes hard to imagine what it's really like for the animals, but they make it very clear. After that, I think you'll think more about the animal's treatment and health as well as your own which is great to care about too! :-)

I love this video! Every time someone tells me I can't eat something, I always say "I can eat it, I just choose not to. Just like people make choices all the time when it comes to food based on preference, or a diet they're following, I choose not to eat those foods because of the pain they bring to animals and myself." I've gotten a couple people to stop bugging me after I tell them that.

For me, I only cook vegan food at home, but the no.1 hardest part about totally letting go of dairy products is those situations where I can't really have control over my food myself, such as business lunches or when on the road. I have a history of eating disorders as well and not being able to eat until I'm satisfied (since a lot of the food they might prepare for a vegan on a business lunch is totally rubbish, like two asparagus crossed on a plate together with three cherry tomatoes

While I TOTALLY respect and understand the MANY reasons to go vegan, I'm very curious as to why so many vegans say "health reasons are not enough". I have to respectfully disagree. If everyone is sick and dying, who is going to be left to even fight for the animals or the environment? I feel that your own health and the health of your friends and family is extremely important so that you empower others to spread the message. Heart disease, cancer, diabetes, etc. are wiping out humanity at disturbing rates. If we can save more human lives, should that not in turn lead to more people being alive and well for activism?

These are the tips I always tell people! Lol especially for them to take it slow because it can be VERY overwhelming. And also I think it's very important for them to have a basic understanding of nutrition. You'd be surprised how many people don't know what our macronutrients are and that's just because they don't have the education on it so it's harder for them because they don't know what the difference is between good carbs or bad carbs for example. I got asked what a carb was once so yeah it takes time and patience.

You're so right about the mindset.. I was vegetarian for years (17) and veganism seemed so hard and I thought I couldn't give up cheese or quark. Now I have eaten vegan food for couple of weeks and feel so stupid. Not hard at all :D. Ok eating out can be a bit challenging but thanks to social media, often other vegans have found out the vegan options already.

GREAT Video!!!!!!!!! We were vegetarian since the 70's and it was seeing a huge floating garbage island when sailing from California to Hawaii in the 90's that we realize that being green and as off grid as possible would fit best with a plant based/vegan lifestyle. And I know that the majority of tens of thousands of people whom Dr. Dean Ornish and Dr. John McDougall have seen or spoken to, are vegan for health reasons and have not gone back to eating animal products. They both have noted it's over thinking the issue that causes people to give up rather than keep trying. And that people need to realize it can take a good month before a new habit takes root. If you fall down, get up and keep trying. Our veganism is no different than having someone in the family with type 1 diabetes, food allergies. We don't preach we just are vegan. Most non vegans eat more vegan foods than they may realize.

+TheSUPERHAPPY1 - Yeah, i ended up watching it on KZbin the same week i finally discovered - and decided to sit down and watch - Earthlings. They're both completely no-flinches allowed: here's the full truth your mamma and your teachers never told u about where meat comes from these days. Anyway, Lucent is from Australia, and focuses on the industrial pig industry there, though concludes with hidden camera footage from other animal livestock sectors too. Similarly to Earthlings, it is really wall made; it doesn't have the heavy philosophical quotes throughout, but has ALL the hidden camera footage you don't really want, but really do need to see. Highly recommend both, especially for the tough guys who profess not to care about cute cuddly furry animals.

Hi there. I'm currently transitioning to Vegan. My advice is to stay positive. Maybe go with ur parents to the grocery store & help select healthier food options. And for school, maybe u could pack ur lunch. I know that's what I have to do for work, since there's really not many healthy food choices there. Pack snacks of fruits, veggies, granola. +Joe Crockenberg it was easy for me because I just moved out from my parents house. So I didn't have to deal with other people buying and making my food so it was all just me making the choices for me. The only thing that was "hard" was making sure milk is not in the things I'm buying because it is really common. And when I went out to eat with my friends and they didn't know I was vegan yet, that was something new to navigate for me. Other than that it was easy for me. :)

YellowPanda okay so I am not vegan yet today has been my full day ad a vegan. I went vegetarian 10 months ago and I was vegan off and on. Make sure you do your research on why your going vegan and make sure you eat enough! your parents are going to probably be against it (mine were) do not push veganism on them! it will only make them angry. Tell them all the good things about veganism and how healthy it is. maybe even watcha. documentary with them.
@laurenlane20358 жыл бұрын
Hi I love your videos and they've really inspired me to become vegan I've watched forks over knives etc and been thinking about becoming vegan for agessss now but my mum and dad are so against it. my mum forces me to eat meat no matter how much I refuse I haven't even mentioned becoming vegan because I know exactly what they'd say. I really don't know what to do I try to eat vegan whenever I can (usually breakfast and lunch unless I go out with my family) but I can't stand having to eat all these cruelty products anymore I feel sick whenever my family forces me to eat them and no matter how much I try and talk to my mum she won't listen and says I'm going through 'a stupid phase' I really don't know what to do.
@patrickoriley83828 жыл бұрын
+Lauren Lane Just eat what you want to eat, and don't eat what you don't want to eat. I wouldn't make it a big issue off it with your mum. When out with the family, just get a plate of chips or something. And if push comes to shove eventually, just stand your ground, stick to your guns and say it makes you sick to eat meat, and sooner or later, your opinions and beliefs will be respected. It may not be easy to fight this battle, but nothing important in life is ever easy, but you WILL win, and you will feel happier and so much better about yourself! Best of luck, and God bless you!

Actually, Earthlings is not available for free anymore. They couldn't afford to give it away and continue to make other movies like Unity which just came out and is awesome. They're trying to get the full movie deleted from yt. Maybe delete the link? I'm all for cheap but Shaun Monson put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into Earthlings and I hate seeing someone else profit off it. Excellent tips, though!

I think it should be free to watch. It shouldn't be about the money, it was supposed to be about the animals. Making people pay for something that isn't exactly desirable to watch will drive off ALOT of people that might have watched it on KZbin on a lazy day just to see what the hype is about.
@addercat9 жыл бұрын
+Narissa Howell I understand what you're saying, but you have to understand that that is his job. Do you work for free, or do you expect to be paid? I can't afford to work for free and I imagine he and his team can't either. People shouldn't expect everything to be free all the time.

Does your school offer vegetarian options? I think they're required otherwise that's discrimination! I think for as long as you're in boarding school you'll just have to go for vegetarian! Because not eating meat and still eating eggs/dairy is still a great contribution, depending on your will power becoming a vegan will be difficult, I'm transitioning now and I've stopped eating beef and pork entirely. I know it's not a lot but it's only been almost two months and after that I'm going to try and give up dairy and fish. As long as you're contributing it's better than nothing!

the positive part is my problem. I'm just natually a negetive person. constantly thinking of all the horrible things in the world.

Can you recommend a documentary that is informative yet isn't graphic? I really love learning about veganism and vegetarianism, but seeing blood and seeing animals being tortured really saddens me. 😭 I'm slowly trying to go vegetarian, but want to learn more about veganism without seeing visuals of animals being tortured. 😢

@CheapLazyVegan9 жыл бұрын
+MeganIsSoSmiley Awesome that you're learning about veganism :) I think it's important to see the graphic stuff though, because it's the reality of what we're consuming. But I do get that it's difficult to watch. All the documentaries and videos I've mentioned, other than Earthlings, are not graphic. Cowspiracy is a great one that you should check out :)
@vanessastannett57027 жыл бұрын
'forks over knives' for nutrition info., 'what the health' tells what the meat/dairy industry doesn't tell you. Don't watch Earthings....way, way graphic.

I think "the best speech you'll ever hear" and "101 Reasons to go vegan" really similar but I find the second has a better presentation

What video or documentary has no graphic detail because I have seen all that and it upsets me too much. I know what goes on, I.e what happens to male chicks 😓
@theavrillavigneproject9 жыл бұрын
I know we should eat LOTS of food, but it's too much. When I see some of your "what I eat in a day" videos I think I could never eat so much food, I'm not hungry enough for it! But I don't want to have a lack of nutrients :// I think I'll have to make an effort to eat more xb

+TheAvrilLavigneProject haha do I eat that much?? LOL I didn't think I eat that much. Everyone's appetite and everyone's capacity is different though. I would say eat when you are hungry and stop when you are full; carry snacks around with you because you might get hungry more frequently. It's only if you start feeling super tired/low energy that you might need to consider how much you are eating.

I disagree with what you said about eating vegan for only health reasons. My reason for being vegan isn't an ethical one but a health one. And it's my health that keeps me accountable. It's wanting to be here for my family that keeps me accountable. Its being a role model of health to my friends and family that keeps me accountable. It's my being an encouragement to those who are also trying to become healthy that keeps me accountable. I love animals, but they aren't what motivates me because I'm motivated by seeing others get healthy. So, there's more facets to veganism than just ethical.

protein is in plenty of veggies. you can get just as much from that.

OMG...the pumpkin chili from Thug Kithen's Eat Like You Give a Fuck is AMAZING!!!! There is so much variety out there. The thing I struggle with are my dogs...what to feed them. The vet has them on 3/4 veg & fruits and 1/4 meat. I am thinking it is OK to feed them protein in the form of beans. I am still researching that. I don't want to buy animal products anymore. Period.
@CheapLazyVegan8 жыл бұрын
+TheyWhirleyGirl I've heard of lots of people feeding their dogs a vegan diet, but I'm unsure of the details. I'm sure there are some resources online about it though! :) and pumpkin chili sounds amazing

love this video... great tips. you always look pretty. I do it , for animals, planet. and I can't watch graphic video's like that. It will give my night mares.. and I get the point about animal abuse. all of that. I love animals, why would I want to eat them. I love fruit and veggies.. and grains.

@emelliott8 жыл бұрын
madis-siim kull but she means health reasons like loosing weight and stuff like that's and if you are doing it for health reasons she's saying to look into the ethics as well so you are more committed and are more educated in veganism. My mum is veggie because meat makes her I'll and she doesn't have dairy because she's lactose intolerant so I know what your talking about.
