My husband and I tried your method yesterday and it workrd! We were going to spend $400 for the same company that we bought the shed from to move our shed 40 feet across the yard. Instead, we paid less than half of that cost. We were very unsure that this was going to work, surprisingly it did. In the beginning, my husband did not want our 15 year old son and me to help with pushing. The result is that the shed moved--- but slowly with just my husband pushing. When my son and I pushed alone nothing happened. With the three of us combined the shed moved with great speed. Do not under estimate the power in extra help for pushing. We referred to your video many times!!! Thank you!

I’m in the process of purchasing a home and there is a shed planted smack dab in the center of the back yard. It’s placed in an awkward spot in my opinion so I asked if was possible to move it and everyone said, no. Then, I saw your video. Ah ha! I knew there was a way. Once I close on this house, that shed is getting rolled on over to the corner. Hahaha! Thank you so much for being thoughtful and sharing this!

Great idea using a jack frame. I need to make some for my farm jacks. I have used farm jacks and 4 x 4 posts to life cars up off the ground when needing to drop an engine from a front wheel drive vehicle. The instability caused by using the farm jacks by themselves has always been a harrowing experience. That problem is now solved thanks to your idea of using a stabilizer frame.

We've moved a couple of chicken coops in a way much like this. We had access to 15' lengths of 9" pole. We did not use tracks and used an atv in front of the coop for forward power and a pickup secured to the rear in case we needed some braking power. Worked very well.

My gosh! Like millions of people, I use you tube all the time and even have some videos of my own on my Bo Booly channel although they are not useful and mostly stupid/funny. As a former home improvement contractor I can do almost anything when it comes to construction. A few years ago however I purchases a house with a shed on it already but I want to move it. Thought about some of the ideas here but never once did it dawn on me to use 2x stock for tracks! Incredible!!! Something that seems so easy and logical never once crossed my mind! This is a fantastic video and I highly recommend it to anyone that wants to move a shed on their own. I can hardly wait to do it and feel so much more confident about doing so upon having watched this a few times. Nice job - you covered everything in a very well thought out and straightforward approach.

Excellent idea :-) We had a couple of 12x23ft sheds built on a concrete pad (not secured yet) - recent storm upended one (right across back garden), after shunting the other sidewards. Trying to figure out how to shift back using car-dollies etc - this looks much easier ! Will give it a try asap - have wood, need pipe-rollers.

Hello...I do have a Tuff Shed (12x10) that I have to move a total distance of 5 ft. I'm looking for a jack almost exactly like the one in your video, that one looks like it would be quite stable because of a wide (3 or 4 ft) base. Would you know if I would be able to rent such a jack, or was the one in your video custom made? If rentable, what would be the most likely name that most people would recognize in describing it? Thanks in advance....John

What about jacking it up and putting tires on the skids? Then just either tow it with a truck or a power mover of some sort?
@gailtaylor16364 жыл бұрын
I've considered using rear wheel bearing hub assemblies off a FWD car. Just go to a junkyard and buy a couple. Would likely need to weld some flanges onto a long piece of pipe to run under the shed, attach the pipe to the skids with u-bolts and basically make it a trailer. I suppose you could even find an old house trailer axle? Even if you had to cut it and extend it to make it wide enough, if the shed is empty, wouldn't have to be terribly strong. Could even attach a hitch to the axle. Make a big T shaped dealio. Keep the wheels just behind the center so it has some tongue weight.

Thanks for the video! I need to move my shed about two feet forward, but the two under-shed rails are not running in the direction I need to move the shed. Do you have an idea how I can use a similar technique with the rails running side to side?
@CheapShedsDotCom8 жыл бұрын
If you are just moving it a short distance you can put a temporary skid, 2x4 or 2x6 or even pipe near each end, in the direction of travel. Then use a 2x4 to pry the shed in the direction you want. Move one end a few inches, then go to the other end and move it. Keep going back and forth till you have reached your goal. The temporary skids will get it up off the ground and out of the dirt so it will move much easier.

How long do the rollers have to be?
@ajcoffey43494 жыл бұрын
I was wondering if you can send me the link So I can buy the pipe to move a 12×24 Im confused onto how much weight a pipe can hold without building or not being able to roll.
@CheapShedsDotCom4 жыл бұрын
I used regular 2 inch water pipe in this video. There are several things you can do to avoid binding and make the move smoother. 1) Use a wider track like 2x6's instead of 2x4's. 2) Use more pipe rollers spaced closer together. This is probably the best option. 3) Use at least 2 inch pipe. Anything smaller will not roll easily. You could even use large pvc pipe (6-8in) if it's heavy enough. Larger pipe reduces the rolling friction. 4) Add more skids if possible, like at the edge of the shed if it doesn't already have skids there. This will allow you to use more tracks on the ground which will spread the weight.

What is the frame around the farm jack for?
@CheapShedsDotCom8 жыл бұрын
+Jaime Alonzo That is to keep the jack from falling sideways. I also use that jack to lift sheds to move them and it otherwise would be very unstable at 2 or 3 feet off the ground. So the triangle keeps it stable even at those heights.

@CheapShedsDotCom3 жыл бұрын
That depends on how much you have in it, how sturdy the shed is, how solid your ground is, and if you have a good jack. Give it a try by lifting one end of the shed. If that goes well lift the other end. If you can lift both ends and the shed doesn't bow excessively then you should be able to get the runners and pipes under it and move it a short distance without too much difficulty.
