So I wanted to make sure I watched the entire video before commenting. Anyone who thinks using walls is the okay in ANY circumstances deserves the 2 year ban. Also Valve is 100% in the clear. Not really Valve's fault when they intentionally typed it in, knowing what it would do. If they accidentally stumbled up on the code and quit after they knew what they did, then yes, would had been 100% Valve's fault, but to use the code maliciously to retaliate. They will look at anything you do so it should have been obvious that a command, that is a Wallhack and which cant get you VAC banned since its not a third party software, that the Pro should not use it and that the people will find out. I think nobody would have done anything if he tried it out in a private game or in a private match against others but trying this out in an official FaceIt game? the bottom line is this: people are looking for these exploits. Just because valve has a bug on a console command doesn't mean you have to use it, especially when YOU, the player, knows the negative impact it will cause. And Valve is on the case almost immediately when these issues arise. I mean they fixed the wall clipping after that ONE instance at the major. (and yes there is more evidence I know) Essentially, it's not a question of integrity of the game, but more about morals of the user. As for time of the ban, there needs to be a more objective baseline of banning for ALL platforms.

It’s the fact that he used it in a few rounds to play in a faceit match that the ban is justified. Integrity and reputations takes years to build and seconds to destroy. It’s why the players from iBuypower are permanently banned they lost their reputation for playing honestly. Since Valve did not ban anyone from matchmaking, they do not share any of the guilt of any party. As for FaceIt, I'd say it's warranted, though could have been a 1 year ban, but as it is it's stil temporary, not career ending. The take that cheating is not black and white is also a stupid take. Either you are cheating or not. A lot of "well what if you do X, is that cheating" started leaning towards stuff where I would wholeheartedly say "yes, yes it is". A good example that is used nowadays is the use of sound compressors, where people jack up the volume to hear footsteps and the compressors lower the volume to "protect hearing". That is definitely cheating, and people should feel ashamed if they think that their skill matters once they start down that route. Then they will say "well high tier headsets do that built-in is that cheating?!?!?" to which the obvious answer is... absolutely.

integrity and game integrity is vital for any sport. In the case of cheating whether it be encounter strike baseball or what have you. The organizers need to take a strong stance and have a no nonsense approach. Millions of dollars are at stake and if you lose the integrity of the game, where all of a sudden everything is a doubt you could potentially lose millions in sponsors. Cheating is one of those things or perhaps the thing that would crush integrity. The ban is justified.

1. If they used the command to win the game or only one or more rounds, they deserve the 2 years. 2. If they just tested the command in spawn and instantly turned it off, they don't deserve a 2-year ban (3 months still tho). I totally agree with FaceIt's response to ban ppl that used a console exploit that gave wallhack and not taking the time to look at every case individually. In my opinion it is now up to the banned players to prove they didn't abuse the command and ask for a shorter ban.

Valve stance on bugs like these are that its fair play, its even in the VAC FAQ, Valve dont ban users for using ingame bugs/exploits, only for 3rd party software which modify the game. Valve is very sensable on that stance, a bug in the game - thats on the developers. Using 3rd party software to cheat, thats on the user. I also agree that faceit ban was very harsh for people who used it, everyone agrees that punishment was expected, but bundling those bans in with other normal cheaters it a bit overboard. I spoke with a few peopel and everyone pretty much agreed that a ban term of 6 months would have been more appropriate.

However, as Valve has their own rules and decide not to ban for an exploit, Face it has as well their own TOS. No, people should have had more common sense and known better. They willingly chose to use an exploit that gives you an unfair advantage and that definitely falls under the category of cheating. “What if” in regard to the test period make no sense: it’s behind us so what happened is history. And I don’t think people should have been banned during the test. At least, not unless they dissipated immoral behaviour, you can see from the clip used here, that Flom was goofing around. These guys used it to get an advantage. Two years though probably too long, also one need to distinguish between playing for fun and professional play, if they weren’t cheating during an esports event, I don’t think had the same relevancy.

Coming from a total niche game, where proper anti-cheat is a fanatasy and things like Nvidia Inspector and reshade were or are legal, I am a fan of zero tolerance. I would even prefer gaming accounts to be tied to your ID card.

Nopes. Every cheater deserves whatever punishment the game gave them 100%. If you are a pro then all the more you need to stay away from them. Swag and Jarvis learned that the hard way and now we got some more pros ruined by cheats.

Simply put it's not valves fault in the slightest, even if the command wasn't available cheats are. If it wasn't there, they could've bought cheats instead. They are the ones who chose to type the command and cheated because it was undetectable, didn't require an install, and could go away after 1 match.

he deserves it kinda, sure its in the game but he was using an exploit to kill other people who where not cheating. THere was 4 innocent enemy players not cheating, Why give the pros exceptions? They knew what they where doing lmao

How long did they use the console command for? 1 round? 1 game? 5? He used it for 2 rounds. Seems like an insanely harsh punishment to end someone's career over using a dumb exploit that was a Valve oversight. I hate cheaters but jeez that's excessive

Maybe games should keep the exploits available to players. Like a trust test. Everyone who fails gets zapped out of the servers permanently. The trusty people wouldn't ever type the command to use them.

The game is suffering duo to cheaters, like nearly no other since years. Cheating of any kind destroys a game million of us love right at this moment. So 2 years and the end of their careers sounds like a fair punishment to me. They cheated and took themself a clear unfair adventage over other players in a match. Thats cheating and nothing else. Cheating needs to be punished as hard as somehow possible. With no room for excuses!
