There's a second underappreciated effect of cheating: the fear of playing a fair game that's so good that others will call you a cheater. It keeps players from playing "crazy intuition" moves, because what if the the computer says that's the top choice? Better to to play a decent "rational" move than to get accused if the intuition turns out to be correct. So the fear of cheating also messes with the games of honest players.

Why do you keep saying Carlsen is SHOCKED in your video titles? Is this TMZ or something? C'mon already, clickbait titles are meh. How many of your last 10 videos say SHOCKED in the title? ...And the other four are pretty dramatic too. Why, do you think your audience needs this level of exaggeration? Dunno, you do great in your videos for the most part, no need to clutter things up with overly demonstrative titles. Plus do you really think Magnus gets SHOCKED so much? Nobody does and that also raises an eyebrow regarding your need to clickbait your videos. Just my 2c, you do you, just something that seems trite to me given the repetition and hyperbolic tone.

I do think Vlad has lost it a bit. But also I just think he is a lot more invested into the sport of chess than I am.. I mean he IS a former world champion and a much better chess player than I could ever dream to be. I got my own suspicions about Danya a while back and I just simply stopped consuming the content. What gave me bad vibes was exactly what Kramnik and you mention... and I can see it and I can see what Kramnik is talking about. What's happening is not someone looking away from the screen to calculate it's him routinely looking away at a certain spot. I know as a dumb viewer that I cant prove anything at all and I'm not trying to. I don't care and I don't have skin in the game. But Kramnik is someone that dedicated his life to chess and so he perhaps takes it a bit more serious. I've only had bad vibes about a few players that I can think of from watching their content... and I don't think it is a coincidence that the former world chess champion is calling out the people I've had suspicions about myself. Mr Kramnik hasn't influenced my opinions in way. I had my mind made up before all this lol there are just some players that I think are clever and smart enough and have the means to find ways to cheat and not play fair. Maybe its not a lot... maybe its only a few games here and there. I don't really care lol I watch people that I don't get bad vibes from and that's all there really is to it. I know we cant prove online cheating one way or another.
@leslieaw25762 күн бұрын
Such a long post just to explain you weren't influenced by Kramnik? Surely there's no need for that? It's ok, there will always be for and against. To each his own. However, Kramnik should know that once a toiletgate, always a toiletgate. He has to explain his own case first which he never did, and accusing others doesn't automatically means he's as "clean" as he wants people to think.
@drmikechessКүн бұрын
Yea cheating in online chess is obviously a big deal if it happens, Kramnik is a legend so his opinions carry more weight than the average person's, but at the same time he is accusing absolutely everyone, and accusing someone of cheating by itself is a big deal as it can hurt their reputation. So I think Kramnik is being a bit reckless here overall

How come taking the bishop with the pawn is best option at 11:29, he would lose his rook this way
@travislizer95812 күн бұрын
The following move would bring the queen down to a2 with a check. The king only has two squares on the first rank, and the queen can move to the spot protected by the pawn for checkmate. Alternativly, magnus can block with his rook, but the pawn would take it, and be protected by the queen with one move for a second queen.
@travislizer95812 күн бұрын
You could also consider the king moving to the third rank and taking the pawn, but then the queen would move to check the king by taking the pawn on the second rank while under protection of the remaining rook. From there the king would move up the board for a check by the remaining rook, and be walked back into a skewer of the white queen that would fall to the rook.
