I finally got to try Chebe powder and yes, you can buy it in the United States: www.chebeusa.com/
I decided to compare Chebe Powder and Henna Dye since they are very similar. Both products are supposed to help grow and strengthen natural hair, but I liked my Chebe experience more. An update will follow. I also used my LuxeOrganix Cowash and Deep Conditioner to help keep my hair feeling hydrated. I'm not trying to grow my hair fast, but I will keep track of my progress.

ABOUT CHEBE PRODUCTS:
Traditional Chadian Chebe Powder - Made in Chad
Chebe is the hair care secret of an African ethnic group in Chad called The Basara Arabs known to have very long naturally coarse hair that famously goes passed their rear ends. They cover their hair in a home made mixture that keeps their hair super moisturized and lubricated which is the reason given for why they say their hair never breaks; even from childhood.
These are the directions that Miss Sahel recommends but you can tweak it - Take 100 g of your favorite cream, mix with 100 grams of oil of your choice and add teaspoon of Chebe Powder. The first step is to get the hair wet using regular water and alternate between the hair grease mix that you just made and the Chebe Powder until the hair is fully saturated. Then re-braid the hair and once that braid is done wet it again with water. Repeat that routine every 3 to 5 days. Do not put on the scalp.
Ingredients: - Lavender Croton, Prunus Mahaleb, Resin, Cloves, Gum Arabic, Vegetable oil, Perfume
The Chebe Powder I used is from www.ChebeUSA.com and you can find it at the link below

Great comparison video 👌🏾💕 I’m actually from the Ovahimba tribe and the red clay is called (Otjize). @bc1248
@bc1248 3 жыл бұрын
I believe that Chebe is effective, but I don’t see how it can be better than henna bcuz the Chebe has to be left in the hair and when it’s removed the hair is vulnerable to breakage again, so it only protects the hair from the outside. And henna penetrates the hair shaft and reforms the hair from the inside, and it only has to be left on the hair for a short time. So the henna has to be better.

Adding amla is supposed to keep henna from loosening curls. It’s very beneficial for hair growth as well. @@abigailyayrafiagbe8401 if you do a full henna treatment then once a month to once every couple of months. If you are doing a henna gloss then you can do that every week or every two weeks. Always do a moisturising deep condition after a full henna mask or gloss. I do glosses every week and a full henna mask every 3 months. Add amla powder to the henna which stops any curl loosening and is also good for the hair. Hope this helps. 😊

I've been doing the henna gloss. I mix aloe vera gel and powder, some oils and a deep conditioner. And I've used it about 4 times and I like that my extremely tight coils are loosening. Which is what I wanted anyway. It also made my hair and ends feel so much softer and I love it. The only color change I've noticed in my hair is my grays are brownish and that's it so far. I've also noticed less shedding. But yes application is very messy and it just falls anywhere. I want to try the chebe one day.

Facts: you can apply henna to the hair without waiting for the dye to release and still get its conditioning benefits...it's not the color that produces the conditioning properties. You can research this. Also, many people don't experience the curl loosening effect with henna.

I know, but I like following the directions. Nobody stated that the color produces conditioning properties. All I said was it helps me detangle my hair. @@PureEstrogen just I'm not sure if you learn this or not but just some info if you're having issues with curl pattern loosening with henna then you need to add two to three tablespoons of amla powder with your henna treatments and you won't have a curl loosening issue. To combat the dryness that you spoke of with Hannah you need to add one teaspoon and actually the rule is the amount of 100% whole leaf organic powder that you add to your henna treatment would be 5% of the total amount of henna or if you mix it with a couple of other powders you want 5% of that amount of aloe vera powder. For example a hundred grams I know for like a pack of henna the way it usually comes when purchased from the place I get it and it's all organic and really nice finally sifted I just need one teaspoon. it's a total game changers for as moisture you won't have that dryness. One more thing you can also do a amla treatment by adding at least three to four tablespoons if you had a little more depending on how much deep conditioner using mix them together apply it to your hair leave it on no more than 2 hours I just leave mine on an hour and rinse it out and not only do you have nice moisturize hair and get the benefits of amla and your curls pop right back into place . xoxo

I have been using henna for over a decade and everything you say is completely accurate. Personally I'll continue using it because my hair is reddish brown and therefore it acts not only as a texturizer, and detangler, but also a natural colorant. It is very drying and messy so I make an avocado mayonnaise blend with other herbs and oils, then keep refigerated until needed which saves me from having to mix each time I need it.

I will say, I have used Chebe and got wonderful results pertaining to moisturizination, length retention, less hair shedding. I only have 1 issue. Scalp itching. I get the itching even though I do not put Chebe on my scalp. I've even gone as far as making a Chebe oil and straining it of the powder and mixing it with a Shea butter mix. Hair loves it, scalp does not. No dandruff, no scalp inflammation. Just itching. I stopped using Chebe for now and I'm using a Fenugreek oil I make in my hair. I have more Chebe but i will use it when my hair grows longer and i will put it only on the tips. I love the way Chebe affects my hair. I will give Henna a shot because of you. Thanks for your informative share

If you're just doing a henna treatment, you don't have to wait for the dye to release. You really only need to do that if you're using it to dye your hair. For the henna to bind to your strands just about two hours will be fine

Great review! I have chebe powder but I haven't tried it. I've been doing henna glosses once a month for several months and I have notified a very subtle color change, but no noticeable loosening of my curl pattern, perhaps because a henna gloss is not as strong as a full on henna treatment. Did you cleanse your hair before you applied the chebe mask? I like the idea of cowashing after a chebe treatment. I have fine hair and I'm concerned about buildup that could be caused by leaving too much of the product in my hair.
@PureEstrogen

If you use a henna that is purely body art quality and not mixed with any other herbs, you won't have as much of those big grains (if any at all). Also, i'm not sure if you mentioned the strand thickening effect that henna has, which is great for those with fine hair, which is a permanent effect. If one stops using henna those benefits remain. The benefits of chebe are gone if one stop using it, just like any regular treatment product that needs continuous usage. Also, the patching up that henna does to the cuticles of hair is simply amazing. Henna is the winner for me.

I use Chebe oil actually opposite to the way you use it. I co wash my hair and use Chebe on moist to wet hair. chebe mixed with my favorite leave in conditioner. I squeeze out extra moisture and twist my hair into 4 or 6 six twist and go to sleep.. when I wake up I mist my hair and un twist the Chebe actually loosen my curl pattern and keep my hair soft and moist for about 4 or 5 days. I never put the the Chebe near my scalp. I watched how the the women in Northern Africa used it, they kept it of the scalp so it won’t feel gritty on there scalp. It seems to help with breakage for me.

Thanks for the video! I did not know Chebe powder, I only use henna. I mix my henna with coconut milk so it's not drying for my hair and I don't wait for the dye to release. I use to cowash after my henna treatment but shampoo is better to remove the little henna "grains" from my hair lol. I do my henna treatment once a month because it strengthens my fine hair, covers my grays and my natural hair color that I don't like (ashy brown 😕) I can't really tell if my hair texture is looser because I've been doing this for so long 😮

Great demonstration! I believe that Chebe is good for natural hair improvement and growth, but it’s impractical for certain people. Like cochlear implant users like me. We have to wear our hearing device on our scalp over the ear, which we can’t do with that Chebe solution in the hair. So for me, the henna is practical bcuz it don’t have to be left in the hair. I’m about to start my henna journey for the first time very soon.

Thank you so much for sharing this information. I am going to try chebe. I have been using henna on and off for a few years, sometimes as regularly as once a month. I find that when I mix henna with coconut milk two things happen; 1) the dye releases almost immediately and (2) my hair doesn't feel dry. I received my Chebe on December 1st. It didn't take long for delivery. I ordered the Chebe Castor Oil, Chebe Ostrich Oil, and the Chebe Curl Defining Custard Cream. I only ordered the 4oz because I just wanted to try it. Saturday was wash day, I did my normal wash day routine and followed up with the Chebe. Tip one; a little of the Chebe Castor Oil goes a long way. I didn't use the Chebe Ostrich Oil but I did follow up with the Chebe Curl Defining Custard Cream. After that, I put my hair in twist. This morning my hair is dry and my hair is soft, shiny and no frizz. So far so good.

Vatika Henna also now comes in black 2018, so don't worry about that:) I like the idea of using less chebe and the time spent in leaving it on your hair all week, They are both messy products, and I don't like wasting my money so until my chebe is all gone I'm over it!! It help a little as most of us black woman do jump on the band wagon of miracle in a bottle! grow your hair fast! Product, not saying they don't work, everybody hair is different, I just find for me is oil,moisture, condition,"" henna every 4months"" has worked well my hair reached my behind and I'm happy about that just looking for products that thickens the hair so adding caster oil to my regimen,chebe plump my hair up and had me fooled that it was thick but after I wash it went back to thin? Henna sometimes will loosen people curl pattern but some people curl pattern it does not affect. To combat that all you have to do is add two to three tablespoons of amla powder to your henna and you will not have loosening of curl pattern. Also to combat the dryness that everyone talks about with Hannah you need to add a teaspoon of organic aloe vera leaf powder you want the whole leaf powder add that to your mixture with the amla and you will see a huge difference in moisture and no loosening of curl pattern. Also, you can take about 3 to 4 tablespoons or little more mix it with your favorite deep conditioner and do a amla treatment. You would place that on your hair after you've cleansed it let it sit an hour no more than two and your curls will pop right back into place and you also get all the wonderful benefits of amla powder.

Anyone know how Chebe works? Henna is known to fill in the crevices of hair and to be strengthening. How does Chebe work and what's the difference between Chebe and Casia? Thanks for the post.

L Scott It feels like a deep conditioning hair mask on my hair. I've never used Cassia, so I can't compare the two.

New subbie. Love the entire video. You did put a lot of work into it. I've never used either products, even though I've been thinking about it. Thanks to you, I'll definitely be trying them.

Very comprehensive. I ❤ it!! My hair is hi-po so as far as drying goes, sounds like chebe will be best for regular treatments and the henna mix for occasional grey coverage.

Brownie8986 Yup. We might be hair twins. Mine is the same and this is what I'm doing. Chebe regularly and Henna every 3 months.
