Update after many visits to the mechanic that could not seem to help me and some research via Reddit I have concluded that more than likely my alternator is faulty or defective. I have to take it back to advanced auto parts tomorrow so they can give me another replacement. Hopefully this does the trick, various people have had this issue with the brand Carquest (Advanced Auto Parts Brand) thanks again fellas!!!

Mine only does it when it’s cold and I don’t let it warm up. Why does it do that?

So the smaller guage single wire that plugs into the alternator, I'm assuming is the trigger or activator to get the alternator to output the 14+ VDC? I find that if I check battery voltage after starting car, I'm at 12.3 V and I was expecting to see charge voltage (~14.xx V) but nope! If I disconnect that small guage wire for like 20 seconds or so and plug back in, then the alternator will output the 14.4V, But I will then see the "Check Charge System" message. That message only comes on if I disconnect/reconnect that wire, so it seems it doesn't like when you do that. Can you explain why the alternator outputs when that wire is disconnected? The same thing happens with a replacement alternator as well..

It’s smart charging system so alternator dosent need to provide power u less it’s required that way it’s less load on engine and good fuel economy so it’s normal for it to be 12v try putting on headlight ac wipers it will try jump on voltage that’s how I check and give it few minutes to determine it need to charge

@@RBTheMechanic im having the same exact issue. Can that 1 wire plug be disconnected as a temporary fix so i can get 14v+? Did you figure out the problem OGThinkster?

I'm having check charge system problem on my 2014 accord, i tried to jump another car but the other car still didn't turn on, i followed the instructions on my jumper cables so i believe i did it right, on my drive home the check charge system came on the dash and the battery light came on. ever since that the check charge system has been coming on almost every day. sometimes the battery light will come on when I'm driving then come off after a few minutes. i went to auto zone and o'rielly's multiple times to have my battery and alternator tested multiple times and every time they have both passed every time. car has died two times at night when i just arrived home both times, started right back up in the morning like nothing happened, the second time it happened the car shut off after turning it on in the morning. i let it sit for a few days and didn’t drive it at all now it turns on and drives fine with the light still coming on and off while driving. i unplugged and plugged back in battery sensor, i checked all the fuses as well and i changed the battery sensor and i cleaned both terminals really well. not really sure what it could be. any ideas?
