I replaced an alternator on a jeep once. Started it up. Not charging. Checked all connections. Everything was good. Took alternator back. Parts man said. Probably ECM. I told him test it anyway. Alternator was bad. Got another. Problem solved. Said she had a problem since it was installed. Probably bad to begin with. Good job sir.

LOL my man thats why you never shop at these local or dealer shops buncha of crooks... You can get plentyyyy of solid brands off amazon and have that overnighted to you. Half the price, im talking bosch, denso, hitachi etc etc If you pay 600$ for a " Honda" you are out of your damn mind. Max your paying 200-300$ but thats why you also have to be mechanically inclined. All the dealers do is grabn that " 3rd party part that makes it for them, and they slap on your "brand" on the box meanwhile the part itself says something else lol.

I do not want to seem like a hater or know it all but I have been a mechanic for over 40 years 30+ at my own shop just want to give some advice, cars of about that year do not have computer controls for the alternator newer ones do that will turn them off berore they overheat and fail, letting the alternator charge a dead battery is not a good idea, most will fail in the 1st hour, good call not to turn on the AC, that would be a max load for hours, most reman alternators have a warning label that says warranty void if battery is not charged, best to charge the battery after a repair like this

Never heard a brand mentioned but as an owner of 6 diff Honda/Acuras, you have to use OEM parts, especially alternator, starter, etc. They dont break often, but when they do, its gonna cost. Had this exact scenario happen with a trusted mechanic in my town. I usually do my own work, but was loaded down with work and had a convo with him about this. He said "no reason to spend double the money" and ordered an aftermarket from a "trusted supplier" and i didnt even make it 5 miles home before it crapped out. I turned around and drove back and he admitted I was right and ordered an OEM alternator for around $450 and didnt charge me a dime more than original job. Was awesome of him to do, but def not typical with most shops/mechanics.

Most people don't even know what type of oil their car uses, so it's my responsibility to let the customer know what happens when you use a certain part, or a certain type of part. A good mechanic goes beyond the call of duty and doesn't just install any old part, or let the customer knowingly make a bad decision. @6:05 $700 is too much for an alternator replacement Job on this Honda Accord. Mostly because it’s extremely easy to repair on this model. And a high quality replacement alternator costs about $110-$190. She got robbed.

She also needs a timing chain tensioner!

Battery needs to be fully charged before installing the alternator. The alternator is not a battery charger. Best way to ruin your alternator.

These alternators these days are crap, be careful. I have a 2012 honda accord on it's 6 alternator. I had to buy a good denso $400.00. Let's, pray it goes a long way.

This video is too haphazard and hard to watch. The diagnosis was all over the place - I didn't notice you didn't check the field wire at the alternator either to eliminate that. You didn't show the physical removal of the alternator and suddenly the new alternator is in place, being bolted up - in fact the whole removal/installation process was just the removal and installation of the bolts, not that you could ever see anything. There was no explanation of the fuse box testing either - you have to remember, some people are here to learn too.
