Man, Tri Stringer is so underrated. A mix between Midline Support and Backline Anchor is such a unique type of weapon. Idk if any other weapon has that niche, right? However, personally I opt more for Thermal Ink rather than Respawn Punisher since the Stringer is better at chip damage and AOE lockdown than straight sniping like Chargers. But that just me.

thank you for making all of this tristringer content, the tristringer is so fun to use and it feels so satisfying whenever you get a kill. learning to use it has been a little hard so all of this content helps A LOT
@flopps10512 жыл бұрын
I think Tri-Stringer is meant to have a more supportive role, especially with its sub and special. Using only a single charge gives it a good amount of range and spread damage and it paints really well. It pressures enemies hiding behind objects in a large radius and allows you to get chip damage off for your teammates. And when you need to kill, you can charge it up twice. That being said, I think Thermal Ink would work well since you can essentially pressure your opponents into areas you want them to be in. I haven't been able to hit arc shots with the Stringer well, but using it more as a support weapon has gotten me good results. Doesn't help when your team is all slayers and die constantly though.

dude that last bit hit too close to home lmao 💀 playing tri-stringer supportively a lot (while practicing arc shots), i'm almost always the last one alive and the massive amount of dread that i feel when i see everyone super jumping to my location as i run away from the enemy team is not a fun state
@AnonPencil2 жыл бұрын
Something you forgot to mention or just didnt know is that respawn punisher can also not let people using tacticooler respawn quick and instead respawn in the normal time. This also goes for the special it gets reset half instead of not being decreased

About ink resistance up and sub resistance up, idk if there are actually beneffits to running these on splat 3 tbh. Ink resistance up was meta on splat 2 to counter main power up with damage buffs so you don't die to 2 shots instead of 3 from a pro splattershot. The same is truth about sub resistance up, on splat 2 you would run this to counter indirect hits from not only boms but also for things like jet. This effects only sub weapons on splat 3. Anyway I don't think these abilities are bad now but you don't NEED them rn. I would rather recommend 1 special saver, 1 ink recovery up and 1 quick super jump subs rn.
@mistersnerpy27682 жыл бұрын
Great job on the video! It’s nice to see someone advancing the tri-stringer’s meta. I wanted to add that there are 2 other abilities you might want to have 1 sub of. Ink Recovery replenishes your tank like a second faster and Special Saver saves a max of 9% of your special gauge with 1 sub respectively. Also, one of the last patches for Splatoon 2 made it so you need 2 Sub Resistance Up to protect yourself from Splat Bomb indirects specifically. So I would recommend using 2 only if you don’t want to die to Slosher + Bomb combos.

The Stringers have been my main weapon so far. I switch from the Tri to Wellspring pretty often. It’s a fun weapon and the fact you can be support while still dishing out unsuspecting damage is super satisfying.

If I may just add here, since so many of us commenting are a) loving the tri-stringer and b) experiencing the difficulty of embracing it, that whenever I play against a stringer, I feel it has a unique level of intimidation, and I love it. Something about how you get these rapid, sudden volley's of arrows shot at you, especially if they are about to explode, is really intense. I think about that when I'm launching volley's at the other team, and hope it does the same to them lol

I actually used thermal ink a lot early on before I had more gear options to pick from and found it a rather fun thing to mess around with. Also has the added bonus of unlike other marking methods it last practically forever and doesn't let the opponent see a constant reminder that they are marked and need to be more carful. One other ability I think is worth using is object shredder as it really helps when dealing with big bubbler and wave breaker.

@patrickserrats69192 жыл бұрын
The main weakness of the tri stringer is its inability to kill reliably, its meant to poke/zone/corner your enemies from a safe distance so your allies can finish them up (Its a very supportive weapon so you wont really be able to carry a game if your team is trash)
@khan52162 жыл бұрын
Great video as always man! I haven't messed with thermal ink too much but I think it's a great suggestion especially if you're picking up the stringer for the first time. Also woo! Glad to see sub saver as a suggestion in there too. Personally that's what I use and I've found great success with it. It's probably not optimal, but being able to throw your mist more reliably is a life saver more often than not. See you on the next one!! #StringerGang

the only difference i would really make is to not use respawn punisher and use tenacity instead. respawn punisher only works if you get the kill and from experience its much more assist heavy so you wouldnt get the benefit only the downside, this would also take out the need for special charge

qsj is most important, as it reduces your qsj time by over 20 frames with just one sub. ink res is also good for survivability as it increases the time until you get damaged by standing in enemy ink. sub res i'd say is the least necessary now but it still is useful for dealing with all subs in general, the benefit is pretty widespread

Is Ink Resistance Up still as mandatory as it was in Splatoon 2, though? Main Power Up isn't a thing anymore, so no more need to worry about 99.9 damage weapons. Part of me wonders is this is still good, or just a potentially outdated strat carried over from the previous game.

Should I try switching to Tri Stringer for a better Stringer experience, or go back to my usual weapon picks and give up on the class altogether? What about the reef lux? I use that instead of the og tri stringer. I’m currently going for special charge up special saver run speed and ink saver main. Because of the reef lux’s lack of range in comparison to the tri I do die more frequently which is why I want some special saver for easier spam of missiles. I once got mussels off 12 times and didn’t die at all but that’s rare XD
@NBound2 жыл бұрын
i tried out the reeflux in a few games, i personally really dont like its current kit and also hitting shots feels a little inconsistent with it. if they release a more appealing kit i might try out reeflux more but as it is i'm not trying to spam missiles all game
@cyanariesdw042 жыл бұрын
I’m more into Tri-String than Reef-Lux, but personally, I would mainly run swim speed and probably some quick respawn or special saver with it. One of my friends who’s into competitive Splatoon believes run speed isn’t very useful on anything that isn’t Tri-String and Splatlings. Whether that’s actually the case or not, Reef-Lux being a lightweight means that it can already run decently fast and swim speed helps especially since it can hold charge while swimming. Quick respawn is ok, if you’re going to run it, I’d say run it if you want to me more of a slayer and you’re in constant danger. Special charge/special saver works (I always use special charge cause I forget that saver exists lmao) just because missiles is a legitimately good special :)
