I think it might help if one just divides y1 by y2 (or the other way around), and see if the result is a constant (or if it can be a constant) without a remainder.

So to be more precise they need to be constant INTEGER multiples? Because you could have multiplied e^(6t) x e^(-3t) = e^(3t) and that would be true. C must be an integer then
