I learned how to formally say boarding pass. It was hard to hear some of the audio as a non-native, but the Japanese subtitles were great and really helpful to track the conversation. I have noticed that as a non-native, the less clear the audio is, the bigger of an issue it becomes. In Spanish, my native language, it doesn't matter, singing, low audio, bad audio, background noise, I can understand it perfectly in any situation for the most part. But even in English, and I live and work in an English speaking country now, I still sometimes struggle if the audio is not "perfect". The same with Japanese, I was able to understand fully what was said if I read the Japanese subtitles, but without them, I was at lost at some parts.

I was in Japan last year and had this problem too. In cafes, I was asked simple things while people were talking and music was playing in the background. The staff wore masks too. I could reconstruct such speech in my native language, but I had no chance in Japanese.

A strange Question for Sayaka,l am studying Japanese for a year now and am avidly watching all your videos as l come to Tokyo to see the legendary YUSHUKAN Museum,my dream is to touch a HA-GO Type 95 tank and see an actual Mitsubishi A6M Zero then visit the famous TAMIYA Showrooms. So.....my question was in one of your videos you casually mentioned the Imperial Japanese Army had a special type of Japanese they used when speaking to each other,very formal l believe? Would you ever do a video on the IJA and how an Officer might address a Private and how a corporal might address a General in 1942? As a TAMIYA and Japanese army nut l would be so grateful! Thank you for a real life example. I've been learning for a few years, but the speed at which a native person speaks would have me scrambling to understand the meaning. Although I haven't learned some of the words in the subtitle, I was able to make some guesses about what is happening. My understanding is that Japanese people speak the most syllables per time of almost any language. I hope to practice my listening skills more.

Okinawa is still on my list to visit, will be my 4th japan trip this year and will focus mostly on Osaka, Horishima and all the way down to Kumamoto. Quick trip to Tokyo as well for a 3 day music festival. 2025 I can hopefully make it to Naha and surrounding area! What is the best time to visit for the LEAST amount of tourists? I honestly don't like crowds very much and try to avoid them. I love taking the path least travelled. When 90% go down a certain street I take the one parallel to it. It's quite fun that way.

That's SO weird! I fly from Tokyo to Naha at least once every year and i have never been asked to show any form of ID. For that matter, in thirty years I've never had to show ID for any domestic flight in Japan. This is a great time of year to be in Okinawa, I just got back from spending a week there.

This type of manual(not in life situation informal dialogue) is really good material when using for total basic structure. Right now I can draw(copy-writing contained every katakana & kanji at least in this video! can pouse and write although no comprehention) and can acquisite vocabulary right now. If finished maybe I can expect getting presented from 선생님. In the video \a sa go hang\was not enough quantity is too small. I'm so starving in this morning 6:44am.
