I have Just acquired a 48 Willy's Flat fender. The last time I had one was back on the farm over 40 years ago, as teenagers my friend Don and I spent a winter weekend freezing out collective balls off digging it out of the barn, collecting parts, pissing on electric fences, rebuilding the motor, lubing it up, slapping some gas in the tank then taking it out for a test drive and beating the brakes off it. Rinse/Wash Repeat. To say that those were the days would be the understatement of the century. Now I have one again. Total travesty but she is mine. Brings back the air of Old school simple stupid. But also tells you that how small the normal person was back in the 40’s & 50’s. and how small we were as teenagers. When held to current stats, seating /comfort was an afterthought. “It’s tight” is the understatement of the day. (Future modification will be to cut the fender and push the seat back to a more comfortable position.) 4 Cylinder Original shit (Points & condenser. That at current have been shot out burnt out or just F.U.B.A.R. for faulty wiring and not rocking any Spark. They will most likely be replaced with new wiring job and electronic Ignition.) to get my project started I rolled my ass to the parts store and purchased a new battery for the project and arced the starter just to hear the engine make the noise and see if it would actually turn over and do what engines do, somehow I found myself on the receiving end of a overzealous of a nice shot of hot juicy oil across my grill and smiling like a Porn star on the receiving end. F&^Cked up, I know. But sometimes Progress means getting dirty. I Looked like the pivot man in a bukkake video and my friends of course got a good chuckle out of it. It would seem that some unknown person disconnected the Oil Pressure sending unit, Line and gauge and just left that bottom part in the block which was positioned at the correct trajectory that provided me with that fun filled flat fender facial experience. Once I get the wiring correct. Then its time to work on the seating. Being 6'4" rocking about 300 lbs. of built for comfort, not speed the seating is a little tight to say the least. I like how this rig is set up. Especially the Roll Bar. As you noted Room is not one of the attributes of this rig so the roll cage and roof rack are looking good. So that may be plagiarized in the near future. I will also look into the replacement of the steering column with a wonderful tilt O Matic and looking at the pedal positioning I can foresee future adjustments with the pedals . Thanks for sharing

No idea how this channel came up, but this is an awesome flat fender. Sucks this poor guy passed away too early. Glad his wife is honoring her husband and keeping the Jeep for his son’s. That’s really cool. Every time the go wheeling they will think of their dad and everytime someone like me is looking at the Jeep and saying how cool it is, they will talk about their dad.

Outstanding resto mod. My dream Jeep. I suppose to get what you want you substitute goal for dream and start planning. I hope I can find someone to do this good a job when I put mine together, Thanks for posting this.

My hot rod 'Flattie' (titled as '46) runs a Buick 225 'Odd Fire' with Kenne Bell intake and internals, MSD, too much carb, fat headers, 4 speed, Warn overdrive... .

Love those full floater rears. But l sure do love seeing the hubs on the rear axle. Oh well. Nice tilt/tele. Mr Borreson had that in his 70’s Monte Carlo / a swivel seat. He looked like boss hog. Build is bad ass...

Took out the tanks under the seats?? Nah. Mine was first year for civilian production. Throw out the bumpers. Junk. And plate the frame so it’s boxed.

Hmm... How about calling it what it is. A highly modified Jeep with a 1946 Willys body. That’s like calling Bigfoot ( the monster truck) a ford pickup. Is that a CJ3A windshield? Those were made from 1949-1953.... recessed headlights on a 46?
@-oiiio-39939 ай бұрын
It's not a '46 body, it's a somewhat modified MB (if flat toolbox lids are original). Windshield frame is M38.
