Wow, another episode of Greatest Image on The Internet.... extended! I am going to be making these episodes longer and more in-depth with it's analysis. 4chan's post number system started one of the most classic memes but also created a divide between itself and the rest of the internet. The gamification of 4chan is very different from how we gamify things like "ratios" on twitter. 4chan is more of an experience than a website.
