HourofPoop's ytp 'friar's rubbing wood: the fall of nottingham' is almost entirely masking mastery and buttery smooth sentence mixing with a solid plot. It feels a little bit like if Orpheus' style continued evolving and tightening up. If I have to choose one video to show someone who's never even heard of youtube poops, I pick this one. Also, honorable mentions to DaThings1 who started the beautiful trend of including subtitles on their ytps, and who does excellent work in general to this day. Regular mentions to Avojaifnot who basically condensed chaos and delivers jokes at a breakneck speed, and also to madanonymous who goes deep into the surreal and abstract with their complex animated additions. And Danfango700's 'small horse friends are good' will forever be in my heart, because it's in my opinion the best mlp ytp, and endlessly quotable. (a beautiful heart- cleans hard to reach areas!)

I heavily disagree with Racist Mario being the worst web animation. At least when it was made back in 2014. Several moments in Racist Mario landed for me, and several sound clips would be used in other popular media like SMG4 (Trust me, three clips alone is enough to prove that). I'd argue the Kratos finale is actually worrth watching for how bizarre and ridiculous it is. I think Racist Mario's success is not just from its gimmick, but from how bonkers and on-the-wall it is. It's not afraid to throw the next jokes without hesitation. The lack of restraint really benefited the short. However, as I said, in 2014, it was a masterpiece. But if something like that was made today, it would've been laughable, if not unacceptable since things have changed. Even FlashGitz's newer videos try to do more than just shock and randomness (if their anime videos have anything to say). If I gotta say, I think we should see shorts like Racist Mario for what it was than what it is now. And I think the media we got today might be worse without that short released back then. And I'm not saying that as though the short is a guideline of what NOT to do, but also of what to do as well.

Small complaint: Caramelldansen does not mean caramel dancing, it means "The candy dance". Swedish doesn't have a "the" equivalent so instead certain words have a "-en" at the end to denote that it's special and "caramell" (mostly spelled with a K) does not mean what it does internationally but instead refers to small candies wrapped in paper or plastic. Why was it chosen as a band name? Because it sounds funny probably.

They don’t need to make a 20 minute crying about their bouts of depression because they’re not about that….and even if they do that at some point it’ll be funny and entertaining and lighthearted because that is what they are the image they convey….the clean lines and overly jokes speaking A TON about them. They like making shit look cool and professional while also being assholes! I like that and it’s cool

HDD id even argue has gone downhill his older stuff is interesting because of what you said or whatever but his new stuff? It’s whiny self flagellation self depreciating bs bro. And I actually like his new stuff, it’s funny and there’s an edge to it but it’s clear to me he’s not as daring as he was before….flash gitz are and that’s what makes people like them, meat canyon, and the salad fingers guy cool. HDD neutered himself and while I’m glad he’s happier, his stuff is not “better” because it’s less edgy. It’s self hate disguised as comedy. Flash gitz are just two guys making jokes and that I think actually speaks to who they are. They’re loud and don’t care which says a lot about them. Maybe I’m being gay but idk …..I disagree.

I see what ur saying about the animation but you can not possibly discern that from just this video. Like you said, the video is old. They made it early on in their career so I’d say, regardless of how cleans it looks, it’s actually amateurish in the sense it was just two friends fing around …..it also looks stiff like you said and that adds to them not yet “getting it.” You could argue just inserting characters is meaningless and not as artistic but combined with the crude jokes….i don’t think they meant to do that to begin with. Salad fingers and this are not comparable not because of the quality but because they serve two completely different purposes. One is a well thought out series and the other is a funny video. I personally really like flash gitz bc besides their writing, they’ve always stayed true to those overly edgy visuals and bright colors w/ cleans lines…just because it’s clean doesn’t mean it’s creatively bankrupt and just because it’s not deep doesn’t mean that what they’re doing is not significant.

I feel like Racist Mario is only bad because it hasn’t aged well, like most edgy early 2010s works. Back then there were plenty of people trying to make Mario less kid friendly in their own way. Modern Flashgitz has some kind of satirical perspective on his nintendo related animations in a more nuanced way; Racist Mario was just…well, Mario being racist, abusive, and straight up evil. And at the time, people thought that was quality since it wasn’t as common back then.

WGJ4K was my favorite of all HotDiggedies. It was like a real cartoon series and I was genuinely baffled how he was able to upload it this fast back then. Really inspired me as an animator.
