We love to lay in our rooms and scroll through and enjoy the show as these generally attractive teenagers get themselves into petty little situations. I suppose it’s out of envy... perhaps we wish we were them. They’re so out of reach, rich and famous as they are, but the stupid drama connects us to them in a different way. The drama IS the same as the conflicts we see again and again in high school, the ones many of us go through. It’s proof that they’re like us. So we get invested, pick sides, and gang up in the comments and mentions of the ones we disagree with. Imagine you get into a silly little fight with your friend, and instead of discussing it in private, it gets put on display for millions to watch and get invested in. I feel bad for them.
