I feel like all these children will try to get emancipated when they're 16 and it will come out that their parents took/spent all the money they made off the children... it's the new wave of sad child stars that become damaged, lonely, and broke, by no fault of their own, people they worked hard for nothing.

It’s not healthy for the normal person to live through a lens and these children are doing that x1000. I really hope some kind of legislation is introduced at some point bc these children are going to have huge issues later in life.

Our dad is the only one that me and my sister communicate to. I'm really scared when school starts since we have these family activities.. I feel like a disappointment since I basically dragged my sister down with me. If I could turn back time and chose what to change it would be me. I don't wanna be myself. Man, childhood is such an important phase. The negative stuff sticks, just as much as the positive. Those insecurities and fears you have as a child can impact you a lot if they're not dealt with in a healthy way. I can't imagine how badly it will affect these children to be raised this way. They have no privacy, all of their relationships are shallow and fake. Nothing can be genuine. They can't have a discussion with their parents without a camera in their face and millions watching. The psychological damage, ugh

I agree. Having a deep conversation with your parents (especially about a serious topic) already takes a lot of courage for some kids to do. Knowing that there might be a camera shoved in your face for the whole world to see may discourage the kid from consulting their parents even more. I'm not saying that the parents would put such a conversation on the internet (I'm also not saying they wouldn't). However, just the thought of this alone would be discouraging

It’s almost worse than being a child actor because at least when you’re a kid actor you have the luxury of a somewhat private home life still, this is so bad because the home life is completely catalogued and exploited for public consumption 🤮 No privacy, and no autonomy.

maybe this is just my undergrad psych student disease talking, but every time i start thinking "who could possibly be watching and enjoying family vlog content" when i see a callout video about the ace family or whatever, i hear the parents go "thank you for subscribing, thank you for supporting us, we love you guys so much, our subscribers are all part of our family, every single one, ESPECIALLY if you support us by buying our new merch" and i picture kids out there with terrible home lives and absent parents who keep coming back to the ace family on some level because austin and catherine ace will always tell the kid they love them when their real parents won't. i'd be willing to bet that if you go into their comments section you'll see a bunch of 8 year olds commenting "you guys are so cute i wish you were my parents" which seems like a compliment on the surface but if you think about it for more than a few seconds it just gets really sad. the ace family or the royalty family or whoever don't actually care at all about their subscribers and it's not a healthy family dynamic to exploit your kids for money and views. they milk the sad parasocial relationship they have with their 10 yr old fanbase for money and clout. it probably seems harmless on the surface but young kids are so, so easily influenced by what behaviors are modeled for them, especially in people they perceive as parental/authority figures. idk i'm probably just an oversensitive snowflake but it really just makes me sad. also theyre fckin cringe

There was this family channel that adopted a kid with autism from China and they already had a bunch of kids; not only would the parents do "family time" w their biological kids after sending the boy to bed, effectively shunning, him but also there were times in which the mom filmed him "throwing fits" when in reality it was basically him having sensory overloads bc of his autism and she would just dismiss it and leave him to cry out. It was a pretty big case about a year ago bc they ended up giving him up, or as they said in their own video "having to REHOME him". The absolute gall of this people. Sucks that they basically neglected the little boy and caused him more trauma but I guess I'm glad he's no longer being pimped out for views on youtube. Tom Harlock made a pretty lenghty video about the subject.

This shit is so weird and dark. These kids grow up without a moment of authenticity or real emotion in their lives, zero real connection to their protective and nurturing figures in their lives. Also, these families have more and more children BECAUSE of their channels, because they know it'll boost the channel, so whether its conscious or subconscious they are getting pregnant and having babies just for the channel... not out of love. Its gross on every level and these children will grow up traumatised by this behaviour. Thats a psychological fact. A child is in the most critical period of development in their lives at these stages and looking into and speaking to a camera lens throughout the entirety of their childhood, in their own homes, and their own BEDROOMS, what is supposed to be their private, safe space, is NOT normal.

cody talked about this a little in the video, but to me, i almost feel like family vloggers are on the same level, if not worse, than child stars. at least child stars know when they walk off set and into their own home that they can stop acting, and that the cameras will be off for a little while. the children of family vloggers don’t get that. to them, they know the cameras could be turned on at any moment, and that it will be turned on - especially if they’re gonna be punished or have awkward moments

It honestly is disgusting, using their children as income. and the kids cant even consent. Im sure there are days they don't want to be on camera and "perform" and their parents force them too. Also this content will be on the internet forever, and when they are older they may not want it to be. Home videos are precious memories for families, but these are so fake and not genuine. Also the display of wealth is so gross. they could at least do something inspiring with their money or interesting. These kids will need major therapy, they are child actors in a sense. They will also have a super skewed view of the world growing up when it comes to money etc.

I can definitely see these kids growing up with some serious anxiety issues and possibly disorders as they grow older. When you grow up with parents who don't allow you to process your emotions fully without them making a big scene, it seriously effects your sense of self overtime. Add in the cameras 24/7 and you will get self-esteem issues as soon as you begin understanding the context behind those seemingly innocent videos your family did of you. I'm seriously scared for how the next generation will turn out mentally once they grow older, having their entire lives broadcasted to the world all the way from birth to adulthood...

The kid already has everything… what value does $1000 have to a child with everything. I remember saving up money in order to buy games or on very rare occasions a laptop if I needed one. This kid is surrounded by every possible amenity known to man… what is $1000 to him?

ftc just doesn’t rly regulate youtube and child labor laws on youtube it’s like a grey area that hasn’t really been explored yet. my guess is when these kids grow up there will be lawsuits and much more regulation

Ya I agree but the parents are doing it to make money for their family.... which includes their children?? Idk ab u but if my parents did this and got rich I would be more than grateful to them for working hard for something and putting their mind to it.

As someone who hated, and still hates, being in videos, pictures, etc, putting a camera in your kid's faces while talking loudly and invading their personal space, that cannot be good for them. They'd grow up having their entire lives documented on the Internet, that can't be healthy for anyone, even if they enjoy it or want to do that. Let alone for a kid who can't really make decisions like that yet.

When we started having kids, we decided that we wouldn't put their pictures on our social media, except maybe an outdated family picture as a profile pic. We wanted them to grow up having some control of their online presence. My parents, even though we told them our wishes, don't seem to understand/care and it makes me upset. Especially because neither my husband or I have any social media accounts likes insta or fb, so I can't even see what they're posting...

@@cutethulu_xo My mom won’t ever stop posting stuff about me on her Instagram even the embarrassing pictures of me. I remember I told her to stop posting pictures of me because I didn’t like them and I was already insecure enough, but she got mad and started yelling at me. It’s amazing how other parents actually respect their kids privacy and all that stuff unlike my mom who takes everything as an offense
