Aurora Designs had so many, Hendrix is amazing but the African Leopard with all the color morphs (albino included) was my favorite, so the Radical Remake team gets mad props! OH and then Tamara's South African Leopard, the one that had the tortosieshell- King Leopard variant skin, soooo beautiful! Nothing like it anywhere in the hundreds of ZT2 library!

Been a while since I've had a look at the mods in my library, but I recall being thrilled about all of the small mammals that were modded after a certain point (e.g., genets, civets, ringtails, and so on).

I think the reason I always prefer Zoo Tycoon 2 over Planet zoo is the more simple aspect of it, I can just put down a zoo relatively quickly and not have to spend hours designing habitats or buildings and just being able to have fun and run a zoo . and for me Planet zoo is way more stressfull , IDK why it just is .

Agreed, Zoo Tycoon draws the line between "Simulation Games" and "Serious Simulation". Beyond that is just almost real-life zoo sim made for highly dedicated players with a lot of time to kill. That's why unlike in Zoo Tycoon, I only boot up Planet Zoo to take a nice walk inside other person savegames...

This! I know people say that the pathing system in Planet Zoo isn't broken, but there's so much they could do to fix it. Zoo Tycoon 2 did such a great job with making it so that you could align your paths and make the surrounding areas look amazing. It's a simple game now, but back in the day, it was well ahead of its time :)

PZ is more or less just a building sim with animal set pieces. It also doesn't help that the animals are also EVEN MORE PICKY then the ones in ZT1.

cause PZ it's really a mess when it comes to interface and bulding mechanics yes it's really advanced but jesus it's really bad/hard to use and not user friendly hell even when you need to look at animals needs what they like(toys ecc) is really annoying in that Prehistoric kingdom is way better

The ZT2 animal selection menu actually sorts the animals by alphabetical order, but the names are the "type" of animal first and the species second, like in the zoopedia, not the way they appear in the selection menu itself. So when the secretary bird, for example, appears early in the menu, it's because it's named "Bird, Secretary" in the coding. The emperor and rockhopper penguins would appear together because they're named "Penguin, Emperor" and "Penguin, Rockhopper", etc.

My issue between planet zoo and zoo tycoon 2 is specifically how the two conduct themselves in the end, Planet zoo is as big as a pond but that is deep, Zoo tycoon 2 UC felt like a giant fresh water lake, the various expansions added more than simple variety. I can have a giant enclosure with a tropical jungle theme and have a safari with guests who will see Dodos, Chimps, Gorillas, pygmy hippos, Styras, maybe a Deinonychus along the way, a Trex. Now sure some things were insane like I will say the Utah raptor, absolutely gorgeous animal is a tad to big but the extinct animal expansion did add a few lesser known animals. Watch beavers build a hovel from the pile of sticks, place a coffee stand next to the staff center to make your keepers move faster. However planet zoo is far too vanilla for my liking, like wow its soo vanilla, it felt like more attention was put into customizing buildings and boasting to much about being a successor to Zoo tycoon 2. Lets be real, you are either playing boring ZT2 or playing ultimate Collection. Though the modding community is odd such as, I am looking for mods that slightly shrinks the Utehs and make the creation lab minigame easier IE no hidden keys, just that. Such mods dont exist apparently.

Creator panel, Radical Remake + EA Remakes, Paranoia Reborn, BuffZoo stuff,European Expeditions, Complete Collection,Walking with Dinosaurs,Aves and Wild New World are pretty much must haves. If you prefer vanilla style then Folksy Facelift,Forgotten Animals, Artifex works and Holden works.

To be honest, Zoo tycoon 2 can be the best zoo game ever (better than planet zoo even) with mods, well at least it’s my personal fav and still is. But thats just personal preference, if you want more advanced building and more complex Mechanics, than Planet zoo is the Game for you. But if you just want everything wile still want creativity, than ZT2 has probably like everything you need for a zoo game. Both games are very good zoo games in their own right

@@mundoanimal1414 even without mods, it already has such an diversity in almost every category in a simplistic way, Which is also why I love ZT2 for it’s variety but also simplicity, which I guess also makes Original modding easier than with newer games. And with mods, it can be the best thing ever. Like combining prehistoric kingdom and planet zoo together, and adding more stuff not even they can provide like aquatics, avian stuff, Etc

@@DireNemesis yeah, caving might be one of the few limitations it had, but I wouldn’t really blame it, plus’s, there are some modding tricks to make caves, but it be probably difficult

@@sleipnirthe8th339 a modding trick i used was roofs with rocks on them, and then surround the outside with rocks to make a wall of sorts. But theres a lot...of clipping lol like animals just walking through the entire thing.
