Fully agree that more amp companies should contribute to official reference packs. Things are just going to continue in this direction and they have the opportunity to participate and offer their sounds and cash in. People are always gonna want real amps but most of us just can't afford them at all or buy used.

I’m waiting on the major amp companies to start making tonex style pedals with all their own amps on them. Not that I want that. I just see it coming.

yes, many amp companies also participate in synergy module, hope they also going to digital reference pack

Thanks Fluff!! I was a little shocked that Mesa and IK picked my little boost pedal 😱 Word on the street is Keith Merrow was involved.

Dirty Tree is an amazing boost! I’m glad they threw it in there too. Well deserved recognition 😎

This Ref. Pack alone pushed me to get a ToneX and since then I've gotten some of the best Triple Rectifier tones ever.

Man I know this wasn't the intended purpose of this video, But Being able to see how Mesa dials in those mark IV's. I was finally able to understand the EQ structure on this Nomad 100 Ive got sitting on the shelf. Ive been fighting with this thing for months trying to get something out of it. There has got to be some sort of correlation between the nomad and the mark IV. The tones I'm getting out of this amp are so close to those IV tones its unreal! This things screaming now!

I have the Mesa collection and really like it. My only complaint is that I wish they had more DI captures. Replacing the baked-in cab doesn't always yield good results.

Love it. I'm using it with a Seymour Duncan PS200 and a Vader 2x12. Tuner - Decimator - Fortin TS9 - Tonex - SDps200 - Vader. Sounds wonderful. Totally worth it.

Thank you for the video fluff. The collection sounds great. Also, I never thought I'd ever hear Fluff playing a little Perry Mason haha.

A detail that I don't like about the ToneX app is that the EQ, once modified, remains active with the changes even when changing presets and must be reset manually each time. Same for compressor, reverb etc

I have this one, like it a lot and use it all the time.

Thanks for this. I noticed that when you did this, fairly early on, you tweaked the setting and then those are retained when you move to a new capture. So a lot of the sounds we were hearing were with those settings, including the (IMO) larger gain tweak you made. All 5s are basically hits whatever the amp was set to, and then the while gain changes are quite close to what the amp sounds like, they still color the sound somewhat. I'm not sure I like this feature in the software and sometimes wish there was a way to reset everything easily. Given this behavior, I will try to audition various captures and find the one that's closest to what I'm looking for, and then from there add more modest tweaks to gain, EQ, etc.

I like a lot of the captures in this pack; it's nice that they included some DI ones. I may pick this up if I decide to incorporate a ToneX pedal in my live rig, but I already own models of almost all of these amps in Amplitube 5 (I don't particularly like the King Snake). Great concept; I hope that IK partners with more companies in this way for rare amps.

You CANNOT mess with the amp EQ. The EQ is fixed in the capture. The knobs are not even close amp EQ. They could add a graphic EQ if they wanted, just like the add the 3 band.

Surprised they throw in the Santana Kingsnake over a Stiletto... those guys meld incredibly well with the Recto series (amazing if you double track guitars).

Hi Fluff. As a Recto aficionado, what is your opinion of a 2004 Mesa Single Rectifier series II 50watt solo head? Or if anyone owns one, are you happy with it? Thanks.
@CraiggaeShark5 ай бұрын
I found this collection to be a lot darker/bass heavy than other amp profiles/modelers. The rectifiers also have like a deep knob like a Diezel or something would, but that's not present on actual rectifiers

Those sound killer dude. I like the Mesa Rectifiers more than the Mesa Mark amps though.

Are Tonex input levels as messed up as Amplitube 5's are? Some of those sounds seem too hot / boosted
@broccoliking66685 ай бұрын
It's cool, but not there yet. We need more control over the tone, pedal options, eq etc. Gotta keep up with your competition. I would love a Mark IV plugin but this isn't enough

I used to play a Mesa Single Rec when I was in a touring band. There were many times the band we would be playing with would ask to use my amp. This was 20 years ago when Mesa was still more or less harder to come by. Often those bands would try it out in sound check and then choose to use their own amps. Mesa amps have an incredibly touchy eq and can easily be made to sound flubby and fizzy. Most people, when first playing a Mesa, add too much Bass, Scoop the Mids, and add too much Gain. A boost pedal is needed to get the sound that most are after to tighten the sound. I was playing melodic death metal at the time so I never used the clean channel (it has a great clean as far as high gain amps are concerned). My signal chain was a Gibson Les Paul with jb/jazz pickups, tuner, ns2 noise gate, furman pq3 (for my always on boost and to tighten the low end), into the front of the amp played through 2 4x12 traditional Mesa Cabs. It sounded glorious. My point is Mesa's sound amazing but it takes time to learn how to dial them in. I sold my Mesa over 10 years ago. I'm planning on buying another Single Rec. in the near future. I own a handful of tube amp heads (Budda, Marshall, Laney, ect.) but nothing sounds like my old Mesa.
Buy the tone-x hardware then have to pay for packs? Hope NDSP doesn't see this :P They do sound pretty awesome tho.
