Great video, keep it up !! I have only made a couple of folders but got myself into a pickle both times. Your videos are giving me encouragement to try again. You've got a new subscriber

Paul Gillespie thank you very much. Folders can be tricky for sure. They really forced me to slow down and think two steps ahead.

Is the jig limited to a singular pattern, or is there a pivot hole/ spring bar hole ratio/distance you work from?

J, how do I translate these dimensions to my built knife? How do I get the exact same pin placement that is on my RFI onto my scales? Right now I make the blade and spring and refine them on the RFI then have trouble making the exact same holes in my scales as I had on my RFI. I will tend to move my spring a little closer or further from my tang, and as you pointed out in this video, even a tiny move makes a big difference. What am I missing here?

The easy way is to lay the blade and spring on your liners (or scale material if you are making a knife without liners) and clamp the blade and spring to the liners in the open position. Then drill the liners using the spring hole as a template. Stack your liners / scales. Place the blade and spring on top and drill your liners / scales together. The key to all of this is to drill the blade pivot pin hole through the liners first. Pin the blade to the stacked liners. Now your blade can’t shift. This way you only have to worry about getting the spring clamped properly in position to drill the spring pin hole.
