The 25 year old kei cars and trucks are becoming so popular because of their value proposition that they're starting to significantly expose the US auto cartel ripoff scheme. Americans are making the rational choice to import a 25 year old Japanese car rather than buy a new domestic clunker that's not nearly as good for 20X the price. I wouldn't be surprised to see lobbyists pay for regulations that close the 25 year antique car exemption, ostensibly based on MUH SAFETY, but also as part of the government's current push for smart cars that they can control to regulate our speed, geofence us out of larger cities, allow law enforcement to remotely disable our cars, spy on us, etc. Most Americans don't realize that starting next year, new cars will be required to monitor our driving and if we seem to be impaired, shut off the car.

yeah but those can probably really cruise at 60/70mph no problem with the technology with have now
