Hi Geraldine. I liked 1980s music. Bands like Depeche Mode, The The, The Smiths, Fine Young Cannibals, Aztec Camera, Blue Nile, New Order etc. I love the Pixies, one of the best groups ever. I like there Album Doolitle from 1989. I saw New Order in concert here in New Zealand in 1984. I liked their electronic sound. I'm in my sixties now. I like some Contemporary music. I actually enjoy Harry Styles. Amazing that someone so young is listening to and taking an interest in old music. From Carl.

Anyone else here who don't use cassettes to listen to old 80s music? I put things on tape that I haven't heard over and over again for the last 40 years. There's so much you can do with tape and phenomenal music out there, who's got time to always be strolling down memory lane. Cassettes for me are portable analog hi-fi. I don't 'lo-fi' my music. Cassettes are more than capable of sounding spectacular.
@tudormiller8873 ай бұрын
Apparently interest in cassette tapes are on the up due to Gen Z and the TV series Stranger Things.
@summersky773 ай бұрын
@@tudormiller887 That was ten years ago. I think the world has moved on since then and Gen Zs got into it for about a minute until they realized it wasn't a great sounding format, because nobody knew what they were doing and just playing off old stereotypes. That mini-fad has long passed. Cassettes will always be niche...and more fringe than vinyl.

If I heard it right you got some songs or albums from The Jam and Style Council. Paul Weller was the singer for both bands. He started first with The Jam and then with Style Council. Both bands have very different sounds and some very familiar 80s hits. A Town Called Malice is probably The Jam's most well known song while My Ever Changing Moods with Style Council. That looks like a great collection you got there. Enjoy the music!

OH the days of lugging Case Logic cassette carrying cases around. 60 cassettes in each case. Didn’t go anywhere without my cassettes LOL. You have a good collection now.👍🤗🎶🎵🎵🎵🎶🎶🎵🎵🎵🎶🎵🎵❤️ I was never into vinyl, too big and a pain to use. I use to listen to a lot of radio, I grew up with radio, no TV, now most all the radio stations have their own apps. I would type in different radio station frequencies AM & FM in the App Store and radio stations apps would be listed. Example: type in 93.5 For AM type 630 I would get radio stations around the World on my phone. I downloaded about 100 of them years ago on my iPhone. I only have one now I use on my phone, KMFA 89.5 classical radio Station from Austin Texas. PS: you can search call letters to.

Is the "English Beat" the same "The Beat" that did the reggae-ish cover of one of the Andy Williams songs? That song, Can't Get Used to Losing You, brings back memories in my case as my late dad knew it while I initially had no idea, and there I was thinking I was the cool one listening to the "latest" hits of the day.

And can't believe You don't own anything by the Attractions/Elvis Costello! You oughta get the THIS YEARS NODEL album from '78!C I was smitten by my father who, when I was like 15 In played him, GREEN DAY's Dookie whereupon He said, ohh They sound just like Costello...
