The opposition MPs did not appear to have thrown any particular officers under the bus (using the Minister's words), but how does one explain the missing IMPORTANT information not being communicated? Was it the system or was it the result of relevant officer's competency/omission/negligence/decision that led to this terrible situation? Letting the facts speak for themselves and seeing how the situation unfolded, is it not therefore reasonable for the PUBLIC to question and by extension for the PUBLIC'S REPRESENTATIVES our MPs in parliament to QUESTION on OUR BEHALF the competency and fitness of purpose of the system and by extension of its officers also? How is questioning the system or, where it is relevant, questioning officers involved equal to throwing public officers under the bus? EVEN if an MP were to question the competency of officers (which it seems the opposition MP did not do) why should public officers be immune from being questioned about how they had discharge their function and duty? Every MP in parliament represent us Singaporeans without exception. As a voter, I and many Singaporeans expect every single MP from both ruling and opposition to be critical of every piece of business that comes to parliament without exception. Is that not how our parliamentary system work?

If there is deal regarding to national services and security, there should have a framework for the approval such deal and it is NOT right to let individual agency to decide how to assess. Perhaps a multi agencies taskforce shall be setup to develop such framework.

Whether the deal was eventually approved or blocked by regulators is just being reactive at best. Shld such a plan be even proposed is the question all shld ask. Being proactive in avoiding a mistake is far more valuable than reacting to correcting a mistake. No? Efforts n results do not always commensurate. Intent n content must be aligned n coherent! Income Insurance and NE need to come out and explain why Income Central Commitee was not told of the capital reduction. Simple project briefing by any vendors to any organizers would have required the most critical part to be highlighted and discussed fiercely before any decision be made. Income Central Committee needs to explain why support was given to the acquisition. Simply saying "agreed with the strategic intent and approached it in good faith," is not enough. Having good faith when the consequences affect millions of Singaporeans, esp. those policy holders is rather a scary explanation when perceived from the angle of policy holders.
