I know you must have heard a million times 'you look better since quitting mate', but in those first few months the major differences are inside your body. Now, looking back to your old vids, the difference is really kicking in. You are starting to look like a soldier again mate, your whole body and face shape is changing. It is quite remarkable. Keep it up man, And don't forget you have a whole battalion of followers here who look at your example, who look up to you. I am not the only one here who thinks like this, of that I am sure. Any way mate, don't think I could do that distance in a car, never mind on a bike 🤔🚲😳. Goes to prove, your fitness levels are getting better. However, when that cattle grid tipped you ankles over elbows. Peanut Butter and Jam, my favourite sandwich, very yum. I’m nearly at the end of my dieting, weigh in day is this Wednesday (been dreaming of peanut butter on Tiger bread) almost lost 3 and a half stone in 18 weeks and getting out walking and cycling has really helped, it looks like you had a good ride out and 10 miles is a top bit of exercise and it sounds like you put some effort into it Well Done Gareth 👏🏻👏🏻

A lovely bike ride across beautiful countryside. I wish I could get back on my bike, but my arthritic knee prevents that. I used to cycle to work every morning before I passed my test in the 1960s. 6 miles there, 6 miles back in the evening. I had a Dawes racing bike with very narrow tyres and 8 gears.

I once come a cropper when i had a red chopper bike when i think i was about 13 or 14,went into a tree at high speed,broke my nose and fractured my jaw and had a lips like they were implants,but the worse pain was when my bits hit the gear shift lever ouch,can laugh about it now but didn't at the time because i was in tears 😭 😅 👍

Nice! What a great trip. It must have been the biscuit transfats pushing you, I assume. Hehe. Well done! Those climbs appeared to be quite decent. They always look flatter on camera than in real life, don't they? Those cattle grids can be cycled over when you hit them straight on and don't steer while crossing them. But maybe you just slowed down because of the camera mount. Anywho, thanks for taking us along on this great outing. More power to you! Woohoo! :)

Well done for getting back on your bike🚴. I hate hills too. Get a ZTTO 46T cassette on the back for around £30-35, then adjust the selector to pick the gears out nicely. You'll also need a longer chain to match. See Park Tools YT vids if you're a DIY mechanic. I'd not been on my bike for near on 4 decades until lockdown. Then I bought a few cheapo bikes. Now I do 10 miles daily, and do a few long 50-80 miler days in good weather. Just for fun. No Olympic medals!

Nice quiet roads, the traffic is quite scary these days for rural cycling. Used to partake but wouldn’t do it now. You should come up our way and try the Ae forest cycle track for a vlog. It’s highly regarded!

I use Sealskinz cycling specific gloves for the autumn and winter riding, they're a great pair of gloves for winter riding. Price wise a little bit expensive but worth it as I own a pair for over 8 years and still going strong. Also a lightweight, waterproof overtrouser would be good as well as waterproof footwear for a comfy trip.
