Just a bit of trivia for you - Percy Street was a very popular film & TV location in the 1960's. Various motion pictures & ITC shows used it (Randall & Hopkirk & Department S). Also sometimes used as backround footage when filming from inside moving car scenes.

I know it well, Darren. Chettinad is lovely. Next time have their masala dhosa - ideal for lunch, a 'go to' dish for South Indian and/or vegetarian. Delicious! There's a whole host of tasty South Indian dishes you won't find in the Bangladeshi/Punjab style of 'North Indian/Tandoori' dishes - use of coconut, different spices, rice flour, lentils etc.

That looked so nice. More like a real curry. Tip for you, eat curry with normal fresh white bread, curry is far better with normal bread because the juices and gravy soak into it. Nice video.

The food looked fantastic with some very generous chunks of chicken and chapatis can be a pleasant change from rice. I seem to recall that South Indian food can be a bit similar to Sri Lankan food. Keep up the good work, I look forward to all your videos.

When I lived in London between in mid eighties to nineties I used to go to a South Indian Restaurant near Kings Cross called “The Ganpath”. Was terrific - but closed and redeveloped even before I left. Their Fried Green Banana dish was exquisite. Still miss that place.

That curry looked amazing, just the right colour and good size chunks of chicken. I have to take my hat off to you Darren. 👍👍🎩👍👍. I love that you seek out small businesses to review. These are places that may not be able to afford High St rental prices. So opening in a backstreet can help reduce overheads. Having said that, they still have to serve up quality, service and price that people come back for. They may have just a limited amount of table space, so they need to keep them filled as often as possible. I could tell from your face that this curry hit all the right buttons. I have never heard of Southern Indian food, or the curry you ordered, but I will certainly look for one in my area. Have you ever reviewed a Gurkha restaurant? A proper Gurkha restraint will only sell Nepalese food and will not serve desserts. You will need to love curry to eat here 🥵🥵. If you want a mix of Nepalese and British food, including a dessert? You should visit a normal Nepalese resteraunt. A Gurkha meal is not for they faint hearted, but the food is authentic, tasty, the service is always 'spot on' and the staff love to see Brit's in there resteraunts and will explain each meal to you if necessary. But beware 🤭. For a real Gurkha curry? Don't follow the chilli heat ratings on the menu, as they can be "off the carts" in heat. Also don't be your normal boost Brit who has a few beers, goes in and asks for "the hottest curry you have", because that is just what you will get, 🥵🥵🥵. And believe me you will regret it. 😂😂😂.
