CHEEKY 🅱️REEKI - IS-1 in War Thunder - OddBawZ

The IS-1 in War Thunder is a Russian Heavy tank that doesn't really get the love it deserves. It's got a decent gun but its armour is pretty poor given the number of vehicles added over the years.
The IS-1 Heavy Tank is more of a punching bag at its battle rating these days. To give you an idea, this thing sits on par with the diabolically unbalanced EBR.
The IS-1 has some great armour, the only issue is that the places where it has poor armour, it really suffers. The IS-1 has only 100mm of armour on its turret cheeks meaning it can be destroyed easily by most opponents well below its battle rating.
However, if you wiggle the Russian IS1 Tank, it can cause a lot of problems for lesser experienced foes.

If you're having troubles with the front armor, use the rear, the engine blocks most, if not all shots coming at you. I had the same issue as you did Odd, with the IS-1 and 2 tanks.

Deffo agree on trying a return to 0.7 BR spread at least for a trial. I've played a lot of games lately where its been a full up-tier and when you're in a Centurion Mk3 and the enemy is in a T-55AM its not much fun. There are quite a few really good tanks in WT that its just not worth playing due to where they sit and the BR they inevitably get sucked up to. We've had quite a few changes lately which have perhaps benefitted a particular tech-tree over others. BR changes up and down and a virtual end to historical MM have shaken things up a little, maybe a change to the BR spread might even things out and balance those changes.

Idk odd, those M19s are often better tank hunters than AA. If a plane looks at one of them, their ammo explodes, but against regular tanks without HEAT, they can be super tanky

Ive seen people drive these backwards and use the 60mm angled plate on the back as when angled has reasonable armor. The engine protects the crew.
