Well it an acceptable break from reality as a one person carrying another trying to also open a door would look very awkward, unless it fits into the plot specifically. An alternative is that can have one of the regular cast offer to the door for them. it also benefits the story that they can have the person entering provide a reaction shot. Or they can have the person carrying the other put the other person down briefly to open the door first. So if its true that what you say (it’s not something i paid much attention to this in the past when watching Cheers reruns), then I can understand why they do it this way, especially given how few viewers would even notice this.

That was a fast divorce... Frasier & Carla were the ones that nothing was changing for them in the final episodes. Woody won an election. Norm got a job. Cliff got a promotion. Suddenly, he's divorced... fleeing his Boston practice for a radio show 3 time zones away... The separation & divorce practically must have started a week after the series ended...
