In this scene Sam plays the song "Unchained Melody" by The Righteous Brothers, Becky's favorite song.

This is incorrect. Her song was You’ve lost that loving feeling. They rescored this because they don’t have the rights

Exactly. That's why when Robin has the other Righteous Brother sing for her, she's so happy and calls him "The other Righteous Brother."

Sorry but You’ve lost that loving feeling is a better fit for this scene than unchained melody.

The only problem with this scene is just earlier in the episode, sam was on the phone with rebecca's mother who told him her favorite song was "You lost that lovin' feeling" also by the righteous brothers. He's obviously playing the wrong song. However, I seen to remember the song correctly played in the original broadcast version of this episode which I had on VHS may years ago. I assume this clip came from the dvd collection.

it was that song not sure why it was changed
@partyguy101ify8 жыл бұрын
+Katie12886 Paramount had run out of money to pay for the song Sam named over the phone. It's weird in this case since the Righteous Brothers had no problem with Cheers using "Unchained Melody", and Bill Medley appeared as himself singing a song.

that's right!

+crysjumar1 I found out a few days ago that "Unchained Melody" was written by different people, so the writers of the original song were the people who prohibited their song from being used without said royalties. It makes sense now.
@Katie128868 жыл бұрын
Then they must have used a different song now, back in 2000 ( I haven't watched the show really since that time frame) You've lost that lovin feeling was used so it must have changed now if it's a whole different song here

What kind of mandela crap is this? It was "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin" that turned her into Back Seat Becky

Wouldnt happen in reality, "Sam" is supposed to have a way with the ladies, he would have done her by the computer. To me this scene was one of Sams most impotent and weakling moments.

Oh Sam just wanted what he couldn't have. She made him work for it. The only time I felt bad for him is when they finally did it and she within minutes ditched him for that stupid Robin.
